Hello all,

I am looking at purchasing a "surprise" anniversary present for my Hubby!
He likes the 2015 Road Glide!
I was hoping someone could help me with what I should expect a fair price to be.
Being a woman and with the 2016 models out, I need some guidance.
I want to be able to go in to dealer informed.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome from Maryland. You are the type of wife we all dream about, but we never thought existed.

You will likely get a better deal on a left over 15. The road glide special comes with a better radio system with GPS and Bluetooth and a painted inner fairing for about $1K more. Worth it in my opinion.

I don't think you will get them to budge much off of MSRP on the 2016 models yet. If you look at a 2015 I wouldn't settle for less than $1k to $2k less than MSRP.

Definitely go for the Special. Its well worth the extra money, that's if you don't want the Ultra model. You can also go on ebay and find dealers on there and call them up on the phone and haggle price to compare with your local dealer. Even if you buy remotely, shipping a bike is only around 4-7 hundred depending on distance.
Like hullhorr said , msrp + for a 2016, or a maybe thousand or two below msrp for a 2015. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Now the first mistake you're making is that you should immediately dump "hubby" and marry me! Of course that would result in you having a chapped butt from me kissing it all the way to the HD and back ... several times! :D

I agree with what the others have said here. Look for a new leftover 2015 Road Glide Special (I'd aim for a minimum of $1k discount and a $500. gift card). Or if your budget allows, they are discounting the much more expensive 2015 CVO Road Glides by $3-4k if you can find one.

Just make sure he checks in and becomes a member here as all of his future questions have already been asked and answered on here. Good luck and I'm sure that whatever you end up with will be just perfect for him .... the lucky SOB! :D

Darn, thought you meant you were shopping for a Hubby, not shopping for an existing hubby.. Humor aside as other said, the 2015 special, do not pay MSRP, try not to pay shipping. Dealers are different in every locale, shop a few against each other, see who will go lowest price under MSRP. Good luck with your negotation, your hubby is a lucky man, he better know it, if not send him here after the gift and we'll tell him how lucky he is.

BTW I have a loving wife who's into MC's so the first line was truly humor.

In traveling across the mid country last month, we saw multiple offers of 10% off list for heavy bikes on cash deals as in no trade.

When buying our 15 CVO we were offered free flights, free trade pick up all kinds of creative offers from dealers further away. Just a thought new bike and a vacation....

Try to get things like oil changes included. Sounds like a small thing but the 1000 check at my dealer is $410 with taxes. My last bike had the first 3 (1000, 5000, 10,000) included because it was an end of year model. Store credit is easier for most dealers to do than cash off sticker. I did a combination of both to make the deal look better. I was gonna spend money there anyway and it costs them less to include credit.

One thing I didn't plan on going in was their credit card. It turned out to be a decent deal for me. 0% for a year, no fees and 3% back in HD credit for any dealer purchase. It was offered to me because my credit rating was above 740 giving me their top tier rating. I was going to put $5000 cash down but instead put it on the card along with the registration fees and a few purchases. So the $6k at 0% gives me $180 back in store credit. I can pay off the card within the year and cancel it before the higher finance rate kicks in.

The hidden costs can sneak up on you if they don't show them on the bike. Freight is over $400, setup can cost a grand, any added accessories will usually include expensive labor and should be avoided unless it is something you want and can get them to drop labor cost. I've seen dealers charge $500 for grips and footpegs. Over $300 in labor for something that takes a half hour in your own garage.

Welcome from NH

HD loves my wife too. She has no limit when it comes to buying motorcycle 'stuff', including bikes. She's been telling me to get a new one for 2 years now. Your husband is a lucky man.

I'm sure I am in the minority but the difference in the price of the FLTRX and the FLTRXS is closer to $3000 I have yet to find someone that uses the navigation that comes standard with that model for anything other than finding twisty roads. On our Sturgis trip every leader had navigation on their bike but was using a Garmin. The touch screen is an upgrade but not a necessity and the security system is $350 and a snap to install if you have to have it. Those are the differences. So....in my humble opinion search out an FLTRX and buy a Garmin for $500 and you'll come out $2500 ahead.

It's more expensive, don't know what the financial situation is, but if you plan on riding with him at all I would seriously consider the Ultra, which means you would have to get a 2016, or if finances allow a 2015 CVO. I have friends who ride with us and as a joke one night my wife jumped on the back of my buddies street glide, which is basically the same seat configuration as the non ultra road glides. She rode with him for about a mile, and when she got off asked how anyone ever rode on the back with him because the seat was so uncomfortable. If you plan on spending any time on the bike with him a seat upgrade and sissy bar will be in your future.

I just went through the same thing with my new '15 RGS.

In my opinion, the Special is a no-brainer. It comes with ABS, and you do not want to spend the money for a new bike without ABS. It also comes with the security system, the bigger screen "infotainment" system, gloss black inner fairing, and the CVO type hand adjustable premium rear shock. If you bought the standard Road Glide, and just add ABS and the security option, you're already halfway to the Special.

My dealer basically gave me $2,500 off the package deal, including my trade in.

I found my wife's long lost sister!! LOL!! Welcome! and congrats on the 25 years!

My wife TOLD ME to get my 2015 RGS w/ 120ST.... no joke! I still have my 14 SGS in the garage...

I would love to see the look on his face!

Here is an idea that will blow him away.... LET HIM PICK IT OUT!!! But here is the catch....

Go to the dealer... ( bring someone with you that know Harleys, your dealership and pricing so you don't get taken advantage of ) talk to them on your idea and you are unsure on which way to go... as far as RG, RGS and RGU.... MAKE THE DEAL ON PAPER and EVERYTHNG DONE FOR THE MOST MONEY!

Make sure the RG and RGS are either setup up with docking hardware/backrest or docking hardware and tourpak.... ( leave these options open-ended for choice making for BOTH OF YOU)

After you finalize the deal at the dealer...

Talk hubby into going down and LOOKING AT Harleys.... work your magic as all women do and once you picks one of the three....

Tell him the great news and give him a big hug and kiss wishing him a Happy Anniversary!

PERSONALLY>>>>> I like the RGS with removable tourpak option.... you get the best of both worlds when needed. RGU is a beautiful bike no doubt, but I like the slick look without when I don't need it. and a backrest for short trips with 2 up

I got my bike around our anniversary, 16, not 25. My wife bought me a gas cover and had it inscribed on the inside with the date and "16 wonderful years". I thought it was pretty awesome.
