I have had a Sirius radio (Stratus 6) mounted on my Glide almost since I picked up the scooter. I finally decided to hardwire it in rather than continuing to just have it plugged into the 12-volt socket on the left side.

First, my sincere thanks to those who have documented the fairing removal here - that made this much easier.

I went to TSS-Radio's website and purchased a Sirius vehicle power hardwire kit and an FM-Direct kit.

Long story short, I am quite disappointed with TSS' hardwire kit. The power connector supplied with the kit does not fit the Sirius radio base. It will fit into the radio, but unless you use the base you can't connect audio out or an antenna...necessary connections, I might add. It is apparent the supplier has never actually hooked this kit up to a Startus 6 radio, although the website indicates it is compatible.

So, off to Radio Shack to get another 12-volt accessory socket, which I manually wired inside the fairing.

Now, I have my radio powered internally and can use either the aux port or FM for the audio.

Now I just have to decide where to mount the radio. It is velcroed to the left glove box lid for now. I may get one of those Iron Aces mounts, as that would make for a clean install. Not real keen on attaching it to the controls - my bars are wired internally so I don't want to add 4 wires outside.

This site is always helpful... thanks again all who made today's task easier.

Here's a photo with the fairing removed. Can anyone identify the small connector (near the red bit, lower right) that is on the headlight cabling? Just wondering what this connector would be for.
