Slip on NOT slipping on!

Aaarrghhhh, slip on pipes are supposed to slip on...right? I purchased a set of used Rinehart slip ons for my 05 RG, 1 3/4" neck to for the stock head pipes. I measured both sets of pipes (stock and Rineharts) and the necks are the same.
I have the right side all buttoned up nicely but the LEFT side has about 1 more inch to go and it simply isn't budging. I have the clamp over the Slip on neck already, just like I did with the right side. I cleaned both the interior of the slip on and the pipe it's sliding on as well. This has taken far longer than I anticipated and now I am an impass. The pipe is not moving anymore. I can turn it back and forth a litte bit but that gets exhausting, especially when it doesn't seem to help anymore.
Anyone have any experience with stubborn Slip ons? I am at the point where I am tempted to bolt the clam down snug, zip tie the pipe hanger to the pipe slots and drive it the 1/4 mile to our local Firestone and let a freaking machanic wrestle with it.

Wiggle up and down and side to side while pushing forward. I had a set of rush's that went on my wife's bike that were tough. I think I lost 10lbs of sweat while doing it, but it went on! Good luck

There is most likely a detent from the original install. The expander is going to be the best way to get the ID of the slip on larger than the OD of the pipe. It won't take much to make it slide over the pipe so take small steps. Too big and the clamp won't hold like it should.

Thank you all for the suggestions and ideas. Ultimately it was a matter of patience and gathering up the strength to continue working the pipe on.
My hands hurt, my forearns are cramping but the pipes are finally on (I'm old), bolted down and after a nice run they make music!
I have a feeling they may not be lined up perfectly with the other side but you would have to measure to see the difference. Beer time.

Now I need to complete the stage 1 set up...And.....and....and....
