Well rumor has it the great state of WV is going to start to enforce the D.O.T. helmet law. Who makes the smallest DOT beine? The LEO's are looking for more than a DOT sticker so I need the real deal!

I have a carbon fiber 1/2 shell that I like a lot , it is light , comfortable & DOT approved , I use to wear a novelty helmet but now I prefer the carbon fiber .

My buddy rides with a carbon fiber DOT from Deranged Choppers. Its still a little "mushroomy" but he says its so light he doesnt really notice its up there.
I have a skid lid DOT, i like it, not as light as Carbon Fiber. I notice that the pull on my neck was reduced when i went with gloss black over flat black. Maybe im crazy, but it seems to makes a dif at highway speeds

This company I feel is great, quick shipping... great customer service, have the thinnest DOT helmets out there, take a look at the carbon fiber.... real nice. Hope this helps.

Man, what a rip off from this company. Someone else mentioned Jafrum Polo but most of these if not all of these helmets on this site are HCI helmets and they jack up the price. I have a 100 series leather that I have had for almost 8 years and it is great. I do wish it had small vents in it and had a removable washable liner. Getting ready to order another one just because the liner is pretty old and stinky but the the whole helmet is great and with it being leather covered you do not have to worry about scratching it up.

Some great deals here you may want to consider:

If your gonna where one its worth it (if ever needed) to get something that meets both DOT and Snell requirements. JMHO

I used to wear a beanie when I lived in Michigan my riding buddies kept saying if you've got a $10 head where a $10 helmet.....over time they converted me.

Good luck worth your decision.

WV Has always had a Lid Law. I guess it just depends on where you're riding if they actually check your lid. I use to ride in Huntington when I was in college with a tiny little novelty half helmet. Once I joined the Army though I had to switch to DOT to ride on post. I'd never buy online. The best way to get a helmet is to go try it on. I use HJC. I have a half hemet for warm weather and a full face for cold weather.

well, i happen to feel my head is priceless. so since there isn't a helmet that price, i'll stick with my nxt 1/2 for now. unfortunately, that co is out of business, so i don't know what i'll do when i need a new one. i was gonna go with the carbon fiber head trip, but they're gone too......

Just buy a DOT sticker, they are all over the internet.
Cause you need the label sewn in the liner that has the DOT FMVSS numbers on it that the Leo will be looking for when he makes you yank it off....

Best I found size wise and being properly tagged was from Kennett Trading Co. Page 4 on the pdf catalog... Paid pretty good for the damn thing here in B.C. as they started enforcement here too last summer .

HCI 100. I took off the visor and it's a pretty low profile for DOT. Way less bobble heady than my other DOT. I like it and its the smallest I've come across and I have a fat head.

+1 on the Leatherup DOTs. I had a carbon fiber (#AX-30010-Carbon-Helmet)that was by far the smallest I've ever seen. Didn't fit my head quite right or I'd still be wearing it.

I had a Carbon Fiber helmet from CarbonFiberHelmets.com but when I went to replace it I was told they lost their DOT status and no longer sell them. I found a Fulmer AF81 at a H-D dealer that is very light weight and DOT. Price was $120 and it works well. The only issue would be no shield or snaps to put a small suun shield on. It's the lightest I found and my neck requires light weight.
