For the 3rd year in a row, I'm spending my vacation riding from the South Bend Indiana area to Las Vegas. I love that town and hope to live there some day (or live close).

Me and a buddy that has a 2013 RGC (plus the wives) are leaving Friday afternoon on 07/10/15. We plan to be just past St. Louis by Friday night. Hope to make Gallup NM by Saturday night. Should be in Vegas on Sunday. Stopping at the Cadillac Ranch, Grand Canyon, and Winslow AZ along the way. We will be in Vegas all of that following week then mount up and ride back Friday morning on 07/17/15, will be back home by Sunday night.

I'm hoping to post ride progress and pics along the way (on Facebook & Twitter) if anybody is interested.

I'll try to put together a post-ride report w/ pics on here after I get back. Sometimes it's just a PIA to upload it all to Photobucket then link to here.

Hoping for safe travels and a fun time. One thing is for sure. These damn Road Glides are built for trips just like this!!! In spite of the long distance I'm really looking forward to this again.

If anybody is in the Vegas area the week I'm there let me know and I'll send my cell phone number, maybe we can meet up for a few minutes.

Ride safe man. Try and stay away from the Interstates if you can....much more enjoyable that way.

Cool!

Wife and I are planning a trip to Sacramento from Cincinnati, OH area in August. She is a passenger only. We are so looking forward to this one; our first long ride together. We have been "practicing" (getting butts toughened up) by making runs to places like Owensboro, KY for a BBQ lunch.
I plan to keep a bit of a journal along the way (so we don't forget in our advanced ages) but not sure if I will get it posted online along the way.
If you don't mind I am going to send you a Friend Request on Facebook. I will be David W Smith. I will not bother you along the way but would like to follow your adventures! I just did a search on TLKurtz and couldn't find you!
Safe travels and win lots of money! :)

Odd that you can't find me. There are a ton of links that lead to me by just Googling TLKurtz, but if you Google "facebook TLKurtz" I'm the first link. You can also just type in www.facebook.com/TLKurtz and it should take you right to my page. On Twitter I'm just TLKurtz.

I'll try to update this post during the trip, but more than likely most of the "live" updates will be FB & Twitter and I'll update on here afterwards.

Going through final preparations. Serviced the bike with new primary fluid, AMSOIL 20w-50 synthetic for the engine, and AMSOIL 75w-140 Synthetic for the trans. Tightened exhaust and checked everything over.

Giving the bike a good wash and wax tonight so it will be easier to clean all the bugs from it in Vegas. Tomorrow night I pack and fully load the bike so when I get off work at noon on Friday I'm ready to mount up and hit the road.

We were talking about taking I-80w through Chi-town to I-55s south, but considering the potential for traffic on Friday afternoon we are going to head south towards Indy, take some back roads to skirt around to the west side of Indy, then pickup I-70w towards St. Louis. Should be a little west of St. Louis by late Friday night.

I'm really hoping for good weather, but not holding my breath. I've done this ride 2x before and have gotten rained on somewhere along the way both times.
