Hey guys I am getting close to the end of my build and have decided to replace my CVO speakers and add speaker lids.... I want to keep my head unit as I now have communications and as the RGC owners know, that is not a small accomplishment. So with that said, which speakers and small amp should I use which are plug and play? I appreciate the guidance as always!

I have a 2012 CVO RG. Replaced the front speakers with JL Audio C3 components, very nice. Was running those with the Arc 125.2 amp, also nice. I'm in the process of adding CycleSound lids with Hertz HCX 690 and running eah pair of speakers with the new Hawg Wired RS400 amps with remote. I sent my stock head unit to Iron Cross Audio to have front and rear preamp ourputs added to the back and had them reflash to get the rear fade working. Should have the system up and running by late Feb. as I'm also in the middle of cam and bars mods.

Those focals must be crisp, loud and clear. I paid half of their price (assuming retail price) for my focals and am happy as heck. Best speaker i have had. They seem to be getting louder lol.

I have a skunk too, where are ya painting the lids (future mod for me) ?Thanks man.

I had Gunslinger do the paint as they paint the CVO's for Harley...they are in Colorado:

They also painted my Razor Pak, "skunk" paint and graphics, perfect match.

I had them paint the lids and grills the white gold paint on the "skunk" and the 6X9 Focal speakers just installed...I just got to put them on the saddlebags and rock!

Yep, I am close to them but thought you had to go thru HD to have them paint CVO colors. True?

Your skunk is going to be badass!!

In essence, if the CVO painted part is available through HD, Gunslinger cannot paint the item.

As Harley does not make a Razor Pak with the "skunk" paint/graphic scheme, they just had to get HD to sign off on it (which they actually did, no problem) and Gunslinger was able to use the paint and graphics found on the "skunk".

Regarding the Cycle Sound lids, the white gold paint is not a restricted item...no graphics were used, so it was a non issue.

Cmathias, sorry for the thread drift but you can't go wrong with the Focals...crisp, clean and loud when you need it...very "musical" speakers!

The Focals are tempting and I have had them in cars. However very costly. Looks like I can get all JL c5's (four speakers and tweaters) for much less. Where did you score your Focals? If you can help me find a cheaper cost it would be great...

You weren't asking me but figured I could try to help also. I got mine at car toys during a sale they were having. Come with lifetime warranty. Blow them and they say I can go back for another set at any car toys. Will see about that (hopefully will never have to) but it is an option.

I just installed one of the new Hawg-wired RS400 amps on mine running a set of 6.5 Alpine components in the fairing and a set of 6.5 alpine coaxials in the lowers.........Awesome sound, and Hawg-wired has a very upfront install. No cutting and no modifications. As close to plug and play as I've seen on non Harley parts.

You simply run the power and ground cables, unplug the connectors from the stock speakers and plug them into the hawg-wired harness, plug your speaker wires into the hawg-wired speaker connector in the amp, adjust your settings, mount the amp with the supplied materials and go!

Talk to Pete at Soundz Customz:

I got everything through him and great guy to deal with.

Uhmm, costly? You mean compared to a Covingtons custom Harley or are we using a different criteria?!:)
