Speedo Face removal

I'm wanting to roll my Heritage style bars back a tad (to lower overall height a bit).
On my '06, I could just remove the 2 screws, lift off the speedo face, loosen the front 2 bar clamp bolts, adjust & reverse to put back together.

I've not received my 2012 service manual yet, but yesterday I attempted this & just could NOT get the speedo face off. Have they lenghtened the tab at the base that now required the switch to be removed?

Just checking as what I'm thinking my issue is, is that the parts were freshly painted before installed & the bike delivered. It may just be "stuck" but I just want to make sure nothing has changed as I don't want to break any tabs off anything......

Thanks

The speedometer/Tachometer face is easy to remove. Take out the 2 screws on each side of the cover then pop off the back side of the cover (the side closest to the inner fairing) and the cover will come right off, the front side of the cover (the side closest to the ignition switch) has tabs that hook under the fork covers so when you pop the back of the cover off you will have to pull the cover back a little then lift it off. Make sure to hook the tabs under the fork covers first when putting the cover back on.
