Anyone have experience with the Super Saver Klock Werks slip ons? With any luck, I'll be picking up my FLTRX this week and have to make a muffler decision. (I'm going with VH Dresser Duals headers)

I like the V&H sound, but I like the looks of the Klock Werks better (plus they're cheaper). There are a couple examples on YouTube but it's hard to accurately compare sound on a computer because of so many variables.

Any other recommendations w/o getting into the $500+ catagory?

I have the Klockwerks Revolver mufflers, which is the super saver except with the rotating tips that I can face any direction. They are AWESOME sounding with the dresser dual head pipes. They are grunty, low and mean sounding. They are loud when you get on it, but smooth out really nice at highway speeds. Almost everyone always asks me what kind of exhaust I have because they love the sound.

The youtube videos are fairly close to them in real life, but you can never capture the true sound. The closest video, is the one done by Brian Klock himself on a Road King. Keep in mind though, I think it still had the stock headpipe on it so it was a little quieter.

I will do my best to get the bike out today and capture some video so you get a better idea of what the dresser dual/klockwerks setup sounds like.

I took 4 videos,. and none of them sounded anything like the real thing. Its hard to capture what they sound like in person.
I told you wrong on the post above,.. This video right here (Click) is the best one Ive found that sounds as close to the real life thing. For some reason I was thinking it was a road king with stock headers,. but its a street glide with klockwerks double back headers. This setup almost sounds identical the Vance and Hines dresser duals Im running.

Klock werks is a great pipe! two of the mechanics at my shop run that pipe. Chainsaw is right. it really does have a low grunt to it.

for 500 or less. I personally like klock werk better. You will like them!

I run Klock SS and VH DD's on a 2010 FLTRX and Chainsaw's description is spot on. It truly is a very different sound...I like it a lot...YMMV. I had a bit of decel popping/gargling when I first installed them, but added just a bit of fuel (Dobeck) and the popping immediately disappeared.

Almost forgot...I also run 2010? stock HD cat-free mufflers I got off ebay brand new for $40 with those DDs and they also sound great...just a bit quieter than the SS but still with plenty o grunt. Very pleasant on the highway.

Appreciate the replies guys ... thanks.

Chain - thanks a bunch for the attempt. I understand sound is a difficult beast to tame and you almost have to be mic'd in a sound proof booth to truly capture it. I think the only way to accurately compare pipes would be to record different setups on the same bike in the same acoustic environment using the same recording equipment ... but that's a tall order.

My problem is, my last real-world frame of reference was my carb'd, 1997 Fatboy with staggered WB Porker Pipes from 12 years ago. I've be warned that nothing will sound like that now with modern bikes but man, that thing sounded good. Even at idle it gave me a … uhm, goose bumps. Classic Potato-Potato-Potato …. :)

Still, I'm older now and even though I want a nice rap when I get on it, I don't want something that's annoying on trips (like the Fatboy) The KWs seem about perfect for this. I also like the fact they come in two lengths so I'm not stuck with 6-8 inches of pipe sticking out past the bags. (I think the slash up, short version will look sweet since it follows the angle of the bag.)

Thanks again, guys.

Just a follow up ...

Picked up the new bike a couple days after my first post and have since installed a SE A/C, V&H Dresser Duals and the SS Klock Werks muffs. (dealer had done a remap before delivery)

You guys were pretty accurate with the KWs description. "Low grunt" pretty much nails it verbally. I really like how they're not obnoxious ... unless you want 'em to be. (Really nice bark!) I think they'll be great for long distance because they're pretty easy to tune out at a steady cruise speed. (unlike my old Fat Boy)

So ... so far, loving them for looks and sound! (dresser duals rock as well!)

I did have to paint the inside opening with flat black header paint - the opening is so big that you could easily see inside to the ugly baffle plate and baffle - I wanted it to look like a big empty cavern.

Thanks again for the feedback ...

Thanks guys ...

Chain, when you installed your dresser duals, did you use the footboard spacers? Mine were screwed up in that the 3-hole spacer didn't quite line up right with the frame mount and the big washer was cupped rather than flat. I started enlarging the holes on the 3-hole spacer with a dremel and then said to hell with it and didn't use them. I haven't noticed any issues, the board clears the pipe fine - any idea of the actual purpose of the spacers? The only potential issue I can see is the fb would hit pipe if raised high enough and perhaps meltage of fb pad. Think I'm good, or should they def. be used?

I put on my harley goodies spacers at the same time I put the head pipes on. The only thing that bothered me, was the cut out on the pipes could be seen clearly when the floorboards were moved out. Not a big deal unless you have black heat shields like I do, and the shiney chrome pipe under it can be seen. Nothing a little spray paint didn't fix though. I don't think you have to use spacers, its just damn close if you don't.
