Some buddies and me are doing a SS1000 ride on June 22, 2013. It starts and finishes in South Bend, IN. Thought I would throw it out there. Perhaps some of you in the area would like to join along, or even join for part of the ride.

That looks like an awesome time Terry. I have been wanting to do this very ride (around the lake) and it would be cool to hook up with you all. I will have to add 360 miles or so to both ends but that's doable. I'll check my schedule and see if the wife has anything planned for me that weekend. - - Gary

You could always start the ride over your way a little early then just meet up with us about the time we are starting. We'd get a great ride in and you could break off when you get back over your way. Either way, would be good to have you along!

Well, the SS1000 ride is tomorrow! Because the weather has been so unpredictable, especially around the lake, we have decided on an alternate route. We are going from South Bend IN to Toledo OH, to Dayton OH, to Charleston WV, to Louisville KY, up to Hammond IN, then back to South Bend. 1017 miles according to Google Maps. We leave South Bend around 06:00.

I put a new clutch in my bike (Alto carbonite extra plate clutch kit with Barnett heavy duty spring). I tried to put the TruHIDS headlight kit in my bike with no success. Lots of issues to be discussed in another thread, so all of that is going back for a refund and my stock setup is going back in. I've got to head home shortly to finish cleaning the bike for the ride (guess I'm making room for new bugs). As I type this it is raining pretty good here. Hoping it's all cleared out by morning!

I'll update with details after the ride! Later.

I'm late posting about the run, but it was a success. I tried to tweet my progress along the way so I had a way to record the ride. We started with 5 bikes and all 5 finished together. It was a struggle for the Honda Shadow. He needed fuel every 110 miles while the rest of us didn't need fuel until closer to 200 miles.

The official stats from the GPS show 1025 miles in roughly 20.5 hours. We had 4:23 (hrs) in stops for fuel & food, and 15:39 hours of moving time. 51.2 MPH average overall (we had to run between 70 - 80 to hit that average). There was a big accident near Lexington KY where I64 & I75 come together that had the entire highway closed (did I mention that due to weather we rode a southern route rather than around the lake?).

Because of the traffic mess we decided to get a bite to eat in Lexington. We stopped at a little restaurant called "Mi Mexican" - where they had nice air conditioning and ice cold refreshments. That was our only big stop. We probably goofed around a little too much at fuel stops, but still had plenty of time to complete the ride. Next year I may try the Butt Burner 1500, but for now I've copied and pasted my logs so you can see the progress as it happened. It looks like the last fuel stop before finishing never got posted, but the time logs to go along with these posts are on my Twitter & FB pages.
