is there a tool to hold the fork tube while removing the cap? I tried a vice but it was so tight I had to use a pipe wrench to do it. Is there a better way? Thanks,Eric

Use the bottom pinch bolt in your triple tree. I also have a pipe vise on my vise that I have used.

+1 on what Frank said, leave bottom pinch bolt in lower tree tight and break top cap loose, if the tubes are off the bike, I did use a rubber strap wrench to hold, but I did have to wrap a couple layers of a rubber fusion tape on the tube first, because the rubber strap wrench would slip.
