Ok, so I'm gonna put in a different cam. 2013 FLTRU.

Use the magnetic holder to keep the lifter from falling into the cam chest.

But if I want to replace the lifters while I'm there, after the cam is out, can I drop the lifters into my hand and replace with new ones being careful of the anti-rotating key?

I've done lifters before by removing the lifter blocks.

Just trying to save a step and that's two more gaskets and 8 more bolts not to have to torque.

Why would you not just change the gaskets while your right there?

If you've got a gasket that's sealed, why mess with it??
At least 4 of those 8 bolts like to be a pain in the ass to take out and put back in.

I see no reason whay you couldn't change lifters that way, might want to do one at a time just to make double sure the anti-rotation pin doesn't try to give you fits.
