Here is the information on the host location for Shark Week 4 that many have eagerly awaited ... and it's a full day earlier than we promised!. :D The host facility is the Town and Country Motor Inn in Shelburne, NH. It is about 20 miles north of Bethel, ME. on Rte. 2, and on the border with Gilead, ME. After doing site visits at 4 locations (this one and 3 in Maine), we narrowed the choice down to 2 locations and then after receiving proposal's, evaluating those proposals, and negotiating revisions, we have finally and firmly decided on the T&C. Yes, we Mainiacs had to swallow a little pride because this facility is just across the Maine/NH border in NH, but when push came to shove, we're confident in stating that the T&C offered our members the best overall value of all the places we considered, and was very willing to work with us to ensure that his will be a great SW event!

The T&C has hosted HOG Rallys, Wing Ding events and various other motorcycle events in recent years. In fact they hosted 180 Gold Wingers the weekend prior to us doing the site visit, and have another large HD multi-location dealer event for over 100 bikes upcoming next month. In fact, before we could ask, the owner offered mutliple bike wash stations and squares of plywood for kick stand bases.

The facility was also the most centrally located to our projected day ride routes. Simply stated, it's 'ground-zero' for the best mountain motorcycling roads in Maine and NH. They have a very good restaurant that's open for breakfast (6:00-10:00) and dinner (5:00 to 9:00). We have reserved a 30 X 50 rental tent that will be set up in the most central portion of their parking lot and the T&C will provide ice and ice bins at the tent. They also will provide some local entertainment in their lounge all week. (They normally only have entertainment on Fri/Sat)

Here's their website link for more info on the facility: http://www.townandcountryinn.com/

Rates: We have secured a discounted group rate of $81. single and $88. double occupancy. The offical event starts with registration on MOnday 8/11 and ends with check out on Friday 8/15. However, if you'd like to extend your stay by a day in either direction, the rate will be honored on Sunday 8/10 and Friday 8/15

We also contracted with them to provide our closing night banquet that will include the awards ceremony, w/ raffle to follow on Thursday evening. There will be a cash bar set up in the banquet room.

Important When you make your reservations you also will be asked to pick your choice of a banquet meal:

1) Lobster bake - includes a cup of clam chowdah, an appetizer portion of steamed mussels, a 1 1/4 lb. lobster, corn on the cob, pasta salad and dessert. Price is $32.00 which includes tip and taxes

2) Substitute a 12 oz NY sirloin steak for the lobster above

3) Vegetarian dinner - $23.00

The charge for the banquet meal will be billed to your overall hotel bill so you don't have to worry about separate payment at the banquet. If you choose not to participate in the banquet, you can opt out of the meal and still particpate in the raffle later on that evening.

The T&C is prepared to accept reservations starting tomorrow. Their number is 1-800-325-4386. Ask for the "Shark Week 4" group rate. They will run your CC but will not process any charges to it until you check out.

Cancellation policy: No charge unless you cancel within 7 days before the event, in which case your CC will be charged for one night's lodging/tax.

We have blocked 135 of their 160 rooms. We can use additional rooms as needed, as available. If the block of 135 rooms are not reserved 6 weeks prior to the event, the T&C may sell those rooms to anyone else. We will be posting overflow hotel info (within 2 miles of the T&C) next month.

IMPORTANT - please read the "Frequently Asked Questions" thread for more updates on the back up lodging (Royalty Inn), the awards banquet, or other.

Camping - For those on a budget or who just want to camp out, there are 2 campgrounds located within 4 miles of the T&C. The White Birches Camping Park is less than one mile away and is recommended by the locals. Also, the Timberlands Campground is approx. 4 miles away. Both offer tent and RV sites. Here's their info:

White Birches Camping Park - http://www.whitebirchescampingpark.com/

Timberlands Campground - http://www.timberlandcampgroundnh.com/

There are also several State or Natioal Forest campgrounds within 10 miles of the T&C.

We hope that covers all you need to know about the lodging options for now. We are expecting over 200 RGs to attend, so make your lodging reservations early if you want to be at the host facility.

Nice job there, Mr. Northwoods! The T&C looks great - even if it isn't in Maine!;):p:rolleyes:
Yup, we know we'll take some ribbing over the host facility location but it clearly represented the best value for all of us. Besides, it's only about 4 minutes over the border.

I have no knowledge of the Town&Country Inn but +1 on Shelburne being a great location. I was in the area in June and the riding in the White Mountains and surrounding area is sick! Gman & Workman showed me some tasty spots in Maine as well. One in particular not far from Shelburne around a big lake whos name escapes me. We also spent a good part of the day chasing Gmans wife through the Maine countryide on her orange SG....man that woman can ride!!!!....course we were looking for a good lobster roll :D

Having never had the opportunity (work and family commitments :( ) to attend a SW event myself, I'm extremely excited to meet and to start putting names and faces with the usernames on here.

We had a great time :) I think you are referring to Rangley Lakes and high of the land. Also all of you save your penny's for a whale watching tour on the Wednesday , will had other rides plan for you if the boat ride dose not tickle your fancy. I am driving next week to the coast to try to catch boat captains and owners to get prices for a charter for us, this is their busy time and are hard to get a hold of by phone. I know that one company has a boat that holds 85 people but have more than one boat if we get interest from the group. Will post any progress I make.

Nice job on the quick planning by all involved! I was bummed we did not get the vote for SW in TX but now I am getting pumped about the idea of heading to the Northeast.

No doubt this will be a worthwhile trip as it looks like ya'll got yer chit together :D

Thanks for the dates and getting all the information together so quickly. I do need to mention that I was reading the history of the Town & Country and read that many celebrities and presidents stayed at the hotel.
Guess who stayed at the hotel, that's right you guessed it, LEONARD NIMOY. I thought WTHeck?? That's weird ---- " Beam me up Scotty!!" Alright enough said, this concludes my 6th post. Only about 100 years and I'll be a Greybeard, hehehehe

We got a jump start as we started creating a list of potential host locations about 6 months ago, and then started to do site visits, etc. long before we knew we had been chosen. We just could never commit or talk firm dates with the places we talked to.

Besides, Ron and Mark set the bar very high this year at SW3 so we're just trying to keep pace!

We knew that location was real important so we did a lot of looking around hoping we would get the bid for SW in Maine but all that work was worth it. We do have location, location, location. It is going to be a long year:(
