Went on a morning ride yesterday and noticed a bad vibration and noise. Stopped by my dealer and it appears my lower engine needs to be rebuilt. Sounds like bad bearings. My dealer will be ripping into it first A.M. Monday to see what the real issues are. Once they have figured it out they will order the parts. Man bad news for me for sure because I hate driving here in SoCal. I'm sure when I get it back it will be as good as new but I am not very good with having patients. I will post up what went wrong once I hear from my dealer.

Hate to hear that Swomack. If you have warranty or an ESP and it's bad enough, you might get a new motor out if it. That's how I got my 120ST. My crankshaft bearing went out and they said it was cheaper to put in a new crate motor than to rebuild. So I opted for the 120 since most of the tab was picked up from my ESP. Hope the best works out for you.

Hell yes, on the MoCo putting the 120 in! I'll have to keep that in the noggin in the event I ever have catastrophic engine failure.

I hope you've got warranty remaining. I'm sure you've posted elsewhere, but how many miles before engine troubles? MY RGS is the first brand new HD I've ever owned. I've been blessed with good luck, and good builds (knock on wood) on my used bikes.

I've lately seen plenty of posts regarding newer engine problems ranging from noisy lifters, to bad oil pumps, to outright failures. Crossing my fingers, and hoping for the best.

Hope you get back on the road soon. Keep us posted.

That's what I would do too! Or at least cams and while they're in there. Sux for sure, but sometimes there is a silver lining like opportunities for upgrades.

Sorry to hear. Depending on what they find...If you need a new engine think about a 124 or 120 and pay the difference. If you don't need engine, Then at least put in different cams when they put it back together.

For 16 months now and I have racked up almost 29,000 miles.
I have the waranty still and the extended waranty for this bike.
I do a lot of miles every year and I wanted to make sure I was covered.
I know when it's all done and fixed and I'm back on the road all well be good. If I get a new engine do to cost, I will see about upgrades but I would like to just have my bike back. Thanks guys and I will keep everyone in the loop on what I will be dealing with. I have a great dealership and I know they will make it right.

Cams would be a for sure thing.
I would need to do my research and get some advice on which way to go so ideas are welcome.
Hope all is well hd4cruzin

Make sure the dealership is good with the engine upgrades if you go that route, ESP's are funny about covering problems on engines with non HD approved builds.

WHOA SWO!!!...sorry to hear about this! I hope the MOCO, your dealership, and your EPS do you right. Like you, I ride LOTS here in SoCal...I'm right behind you at 22K+ miles in 13 months with zero motor/trans problems so far (except for an oil leak and trans shift arm that came loose and both fixed under warranty) ...and like you, I bought the ESP because I knew I was gonna ride the hell outta this bike. I do all fluids every 5K miles. I'm hoping I don't run into the same situ as you have while I'm on one of my long-distance road-trips! Hang in there, buddy...you'll be back in the saddle soon...
