Coming up on my 1000 mile service on 15 RG Special. I have been given 2 different stories on going synthetic yet or not. One says wait till 5000 mile and convert if I want to and another says go ahead and do it now. Taking the $$ out of the equation, do I go Syn now or wait? I am not so much sold on the Syn blend myself. Have always ran regular in all 3 holes in years past with no issues.

Make it good. Put Redline 20w50 in the engine and primary, then put Redline Shockproof in the Transmission, 75/90 I believe. You won't be sorry.

Synthetic oil will work just fine and it won't affect the engine break in, the rings are already seated.

I have been using synthetic since the 1k with no issues.

The 110s in the CVOs come from the factory with synthetic, cuz theyre special, just like a Corvette.

No issues. I also run red line but i use their primary oil in the primary not 20/50. 20/50 in the motor and snickering in the tranny.

2011 RGU. Redline in all 3 holes (20w-60, Shockproof in the trans, and Redline in the primary) along with a K & N Oil Filter. I usually run 5,000 miles and change the oil but have run as much as 7,000. Synthetic oil (not a blend) is the way to go.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say stay with dino oil. If you used it in the past and had no issues why change now. I used to use synthetic in the past and a few changes ago I switched to Valvoline VR1 20w50. No noticeable difference in heat coming off the motor and now my valve train is quieter and oil pressure is higher especially when the engine is up to temp after a long ride.

It has been proven with full synthetic oils, it reduces friction, doesn't break down at higher temps than dino, and runs cooler from the reduced friction. Thus, less wear over time. JMHO and a lot of reading.
