I'm hoping to explore the Talimena Scenic Byway in either April or May. I know it's only 54 miles long but are there other don't miss roads, restaurants, watering holes or attractions around there?

Thanks a lot

Sweet. We have that ride planned for when im home on leave. My birthday is May 18th and we will be making the trip then. Ofcourse Mena is only about 2 hours from me though. I have only been up there once and it was on my rocket so i cant really help you on where to stop and hang out cause we were kindof going fast. haha We will be on my newly rebuilt RGU this time though. post some pics when you get done.

The lodge on the mountain has a good restaurant. I recommend the hamburger. You won't be disappointed.

Being a native Okie , I have run most of those roads down there in the S.E. part of the state. There are alot of nice roads to be run. If you will givre me some idea of where you are coming into Oklahoma ,I will be happy to make some recs on a route and other info.

Not sure Sooner. It will either be the first week of April or the second week of May. Headed to Texas in April and just made a reservation for the Meet n Greet in Eureka Springs in May. Which ever time I make it I should have a couple extra days to check the area.

BTW if it is April I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have getting from there to north Dallas.

Here are a few links that may be helpful when visiting the area.

A couple of places recommended for good grub and drinks.

also has a bike shop attached to it.

If coming through the Broken Bow/Hochatown Areas and you like great pizza and cold beer the Grateful Head Pizza Oven is definitely worth a stop.

We have stayed at different Hotels each time we have visited the area and so far the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge was the nicest. Nice rooms for the money and the food was good as well. As stated they are closed for remodel due to reopen last 2013.

We have tried to book a Cabin here but they seem to always be full. Neat looking place to stay with an awesome view form the top.

Quicksand, let me know if you plan on going either before or after the Texas M&G trip and I will see if I can take a couple more days off and run around that area with you.

Yeah Pams Hateful Hussy is the place I was thinking about. Hopefully my trip trajectory will have be blazing thru Talihena around breakfast time.

Those links you sent look great Triple J especially the Grateful Head Pizza Oven, pizza and cold beer was my nickname in High School L:DL. I'm off the weekend before the Texas M&G so I was thinking of doing the scenic route on the way down. Maybe head to Eureka Springs down the Pig Trail to Mena, across the Talimena Scenic drive then meander my way down to North Dallas. That is provided the weather cooperates and we don't have a spring snowstorm. If you can get the extra days off and wanna hook somewhere that'd be great!
