Okay so Im 6'4 with 34" inseam and im about to pull the pin on my "setup" order.

Corbin Gunfighter Saddle
Cee Bailey 16 inch screen
1.75 longer shift lever (removing heal shifter)
360 highway peg mounts w/ Kury Switchblade Pegs
Deflector inserts next to the tank

After a lot of reading and research I think this setup should make loggin some miles comfortable. Thoughts from other taller riders? Might add on some fairing lowers this winter if this setup still has some turbulent wind.

You will not regret adding the hard lowers. They cut down alot on the turbulence and add at least 4 months of daily riding time for me here in Ontario Canada.

I would also move the floorboards forword and out. I am 6'5" with a 36" inseam and have the gunfighter seat and CV XL shield. I plan to add HoggChopp lowers and with moving the boards forward and out going to start with the kury brakets that will do 1" forword and 1" out if that is not enough going to add the Ness brackets and the do 2" forword and if all of that is not enough could still add the HD reach pans for another 1" forword and could add Soo's extentions for another one inch out. So it is possible to move the boards 4" forword and 2" out. The only problem is you will have to get a brake arm made because no one makes one longer than Bubba's 2" longer brake arm.

This is going to be my Winter project along with atleast 12" apes.

You might want to also look at floorboard extenstions. Arlen ness has come out with 2" extentions for 2009 and 2010 models, kuryakyn has then that go an inch forward and an inch out. Personally I've gone with Banana Boards, Which are longer and have allot more foot positions.

I tried the Kuri 1+1 setup first too (less $ up-front) but discovered that their build quality is not up to Soos or HD. I recommend Soos and HD first and then Kuri if you need more.

My specific criticism - The boards are set up for a bit of tilt front to rear. However, the Kuri hole bores for footboard pins are set at perfectly horizontal (strong-arm assembly required). In addition, they are designed to fit old and new style mounts (different thickness) and for new bikes, the Kuri part needs to be spaced out to take up fore-aft footboard pin slop. Unfortunately, instead of including the correct chromed spacers, they include a bunch of plain steel flat washers. Then the washer stack-up is totally visible after the install (ugly).

ETA - 6'2" w/34" and 1+1 is perfect for me on a Sundowner seat.

I'm cautious now of the claims of seat vendors when they say the seat moves ya back or down. I bought a Mustang solo seat based on the claims that it would move me back and down. Installed it and I was sure it moved me up and forward. Mustang claimed I just needed to ride it for a while. I finally did a setup to take pictures of the stock seat and the Mustang then overlay them to compair. Guess what? I was right. The Mustang solo did in fact move me up and forward. I'll post the picture when I get back to my home computer. Now, does Mustang work with me on this? For a 20% restocking fee. Wellll, I guess at the heart of it all, they made a sale.
I bought a Corbin solo by the same claim and it might be a little lower than stock, but not the 2" that they claim. I don't know. Maybe it's the way I installed it. I only removed the stock seat and installed the locking device near the tank and the rear mount on yhe fender. The seat latches quite easily so I don't think I did it wrong (being fecitous).
I think I'll send the Mustang seat to Mean City Cycle for a do over when I get back to VA.

I would try to contact Mustang again and send over the pictures you have taken of the seat overlay. The seat may have been manufactured incorrectly or maybe the they sent you the wrong seat. Once they see the photos I would hope they would be willing to work with you.

Sat on a 09 RG with the Corbin Gunfighter Seat and liked it. Not sure it moved me down much but definately back at least an inch. I have had Corbins on several bikes and feel they are worth the $$$. I have decided to hold off on an bar change until I get the seat sorted.

Does adding longer/forward/wider boards get in the way of mounting fairing lowers? If I get lowers it will be the vented versions.

In regards to wider boards, not sure if I want to go that route. I went with the RG partly because of the handling and I ride it pretty aggressive. I didn't like the front end on the Electra/street glides with the extra weight on the bars. Once I got some miles on my RG and turned her loose a bit I was very impressed with how well she carved. I would like a little more room front to back but not so much wider.

Thanks for the informative responses, good info.

I have the Hogg Chopps on my 09, and there is an easy 3" of room between the front of the floor boards, and the Hogg Chopps. I also have the Soos extenders on and personally love them. I do not rub boards in cornering and don't feel like I lost anything in cornering clearance.

I do not know about the Harley Lowers, they may mount differently, so someone here will have to chime in.

Here's a picture showing the distance between the front of the boards and the Hogg Chopps.

Looks to me you'd hit the engine guard bar by moving the boards forward before you'd hit the lowers.

Looked at the Hogg Chopps but Im leaning towards the vented HD lowers for the hot days. Due to the pics you posted (thanks) I think some long boards might be in order with the longer brake pedal and shift lever.

Thanks again

Tall boy is the best I've tried, will be workin on apes, I ride with my feet on the highway bars. even on my 03 ultra the extended floor boards didn't make a diff.
If your ride is a pre 08 you will love the tallboy. new one works great but the earlier sat deeper and added support to your lower back.

If your looking to keep your lean angle or increase it you need to watch how wide you take the floorboards. There are several ways to have wider boards and still have the lean angle. First move the boards forward as the lowest part of the board is the rear. Second get tapered boards, wide in front and thinner in the rear. Third watch the thickness of the board you put on. Note all OEM harley boards, with a few exceptions are two piece boards and are 1.5 to 2 inches thick. There are boards out there on the market that are thinner and also sit higher on the floorboard brackets without raising the overall foot postion on the bike.

Personally I have gone with 19" banana boards with Kuryakyn 1" out 1" up extenders and love them. I have not dragged the boards yet and would say I'm a fairly agressive rider. I am looking at the Ness brakets which move the board 2" forward and may even keep the Kury 1+1 on when I get them. That would mean the banana board would be 3" forward and 1" out. There is plenty of room before the engine guard to do this with Hogg Chopps (don't know about HD lowers). I'm also looking for a good brake pedal that is 1 or 1.5" inches forward for this setup. I've always loved the EzBrake, but they have become harder to find for new bikes these days (not sure if Kury bought them out or not).

There are multiple ways to address the floorboards and forward controls for taller people these days, it all gets down to what you like or want.

Put a Tallboy seat on the other day and took a spin about the lake (2 hour ride) and its a HUGE improvement over the stock seat. big step in the right direction. Had my highway pegs on and stopped to adjust them twice and now have them dialed in for that seat. Gonna run that setup for a while see how it goes.

I need to move the boards forward for sure so I got a 2 inch longer shift lever and brake pedal on the way with Ness 2 inch brackets to move the boards forward as well. I don't want to go wider as I am draggin them a lot as is. My concern is, after looking over a 2011 Ultra with HD vented lowers ... if I put HD vented lowers on there won't be room for my feet to work the brake and shifter, the moveable part of the vent will bein the way when its open. Going to see how comfy this forward setup is and might have to go with Hogg Chopps to make it all fit. Time will tell and ill keep you posted.

Did snap on a set of those fairing deflectors ... didn't seem to do much. Once I put on my 16 inch Klockwerks ill do a 90 mph run with and without and post some feedback.

How did the Tallboy affect the reach to the handlebars?

I am considering the Road Zeppelin seat. I would rather go up a bit then back, though either way lessens the bend in the knees. I am at the max comfortable reach to the bars now.

Made me reach a little more - but I wouldn't mind being set back another inch or two ... have ape arms. It does increase your reach some and you would have to rotate the bars toward you a bit more if you went with this seat.

I have the Bannana boards as well, love them. The right board seems to angle away. It is not at 90 degrees, so my foot feels like it is sliding off. Anyone else have this? Any ideas about fixes?

Sorry, I don't have this issue. I would think you could get some clear(black or chrome) plastic pieces to put on the floorboard braket where the floorboard hits, so the floorboard sits higher up. Might take some superglue and shaving/sanding the pieces down until you hit 90 degrees. The perminate way to do it would be to put a weld bead on the impacted floorboard bracket and then file/sand that down until it's 90 degree's. Then paint the beaded area the color of the braket.
