First post here and first post in the forum, it's a good day.

Ok, here goes, I have a '08 RG that I got after totaling my '01 UC. Just like everyone else I gotta' add more "stuff" to my bike. I first tried the XiED's and they did an ok job but do not allow any other changes. I then switched to the TFI unit from Dobeck Performance. Very easy to install and simple to set-up. The bike now runs like a real Harley. Pulls hard an the mileage is still in the high forty's.

I had a Power Commander on my '01 and had to keep taking it back to my tuner every time I changed intake or exhaust. With the TFI just get out a screwdriver make the changes yourself in seconds.

I don't work for or sell the TFI units, it's just good stuff and I tell everyone ablut them. I think you will like them.

I will have to echo what others have said about the TFI. I called them and talked to the owners wife. She is one of the most pleasant people I have ever talked to. She told me about the TFI and how her husband developed the original Dynojet products before selling the company. They make the circuit boards, have their own engineers on site and generally do everything in house in their Montana facility. She asked if I was a veteran of the military and I told her I was. She said she and her husband have a great fondness for veterans of all services and if I would send her a copy of my 214 they would ship my 1252St out for $150. instead of the regular price of $250. These people put their mouths where their money is for sure. She then handed me off to one of the guys in the tech department, Matt. He is as sharp as anyone I have ever talked to about fuel injection devices. He told me exactly how to tune the TFI and said if I had any problems installing and setting it up to call him on their toll free number. I ordered the device and got it in 5 days. The instructions were easy to follow as it is plug and play. No cutting wires, I liked that. It takes all of 5 minutes to tune the device using a small screw driver. Wow, what a difference it makes. When you crank it on, it adds fuel based on the load and rpm. No lap tops or dynos for tuning. It works and it works great. I highly recommend it.

Hey guys, why is the TFI better than a PCV? I was going to go with FuelMotos Dyno Tuned Power Package (Dyno Tune slip on mufflers, PCV, stage 1 A/C).

Just curious I see the TFI actually hooks up to the fuel injectors and looks like it might be a little harder to set up. Also noticed that they have 2 per model a regular one and an HO one. If I just do a stage1 the regular will be fine but if I go to stage2 later would have to get the HO one.

I would not say it is better but it is just as good as any others if all you want to do is add fuel, when you need it. There is no map to add or change with a TFI. It acts like a fuel pump, when you need extra fuel added. A reason to shy away from some of the expensive and complicated ones which use a "map" is because it is gross overkill unless you are going to be flattracking your Road Glide around the track on Saturday night. In a pure racing environment you might need the ability to subtract some fuel at the 5500 rpm range which could be accomplished with a map of sorts. TFIs do not subtract fuel at any point. They add extra fuel when you twist the throttle more aggressively than normal, as in "On Demand".
Use the 1252HO if you are getting close to 100 horsepower by way of pistons, jugs, cams, crank, etc. Otherwise the 1252ST is the one. As far as hookup goes, it is all plug and play. You unplug the two factory injector clips (one for each cylinder) and plug in the TFI clips.. I don't know how it could be any more simple unless you had a magic wand.

ncbeast. You can't go wrong with either Fuel Moto's power package using the PCV or doing your own pipes, ac and then the TFI.

Geez, How often do you change intake or exhaust?

TFI is nice and I would get one if it was not so close price wise to a PC. $250 to $300? especially when you can do so much more with the PC.

It's not so much as changing the intake or exhaust often, it's being able to adjust for different riding conditions. I like to be able to make any changes needed in a motel parking lot without the need of a laptop. If I'm in the mountains and need more or less gas, just turn the pot one way or the other. I takes more time to get the seat on and off than it does to make the adjustments.

I thought I would add my 2 cents, I just put the TFI on my 2011 RGU, I have a stage one and wanted something that didn't attach to the ECU because the Dealers here in Calif. are really affraid of the EPA. and say it can void the warranty. Anyway, It was easy to install once you get access to the fuel injectors. I had to remove the air filter and prop up the back of the gas tank to get enough room, after that it went quick. I am still analizing how well it works, but it is better. After I ride a little with it I will give feed back on the mileage and performance.

The TFI will help you all the way through the entire RPM range. Most of the riding with the touring bikes is below 3000 rpms. If you want to see how much of a kick in the pants you have with the new fuel controller hooked up try going to 4000 rpm in second, shift into 3rd gear and give it wide open throttle until it hits about 5000 rpm, then shift into 4th and 5th. You will be surprised how much a kick you now have than before. The TFI is demand based so when you aggressively ask for more throttle it will really widen the fuel band. It's great! Expect to get about 39 mpg after you get over the new thrill of constantly cranking it on.
