While recently traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway I noticed my volt gauge swinging from the usual 14 volts to 12 and then back again. I had my phone on the charger and thought that was the reason for the strange reading. After my phone was charged I realized that the situation with the volt gauge was still an issue. Harley of Asheville was the closest dealer so me and my buddy headed there (actually located in the town of Swannanoa). The service department had plenty of work but worked me in and I was out of there in an hour and 30 minutes. I should have known better to look for the problem myself but I panicked, thinking the trip was ruined and how the hell was I gonna get home? A quick torque of the battery cables was all that was needed. It is probably safe to say that most of us that have ridden Harleys for any amount of time have had to deal with a loose battery cable but the usual symptom is no start, the starter will just click or do nothing. My bike started fine all day, so I really didn't suspect loose battery cables. As I said I panicked and assumed the worse. If this was not my bike I probably would have thought it over and decided to check the battery but being my own bike I was struck with fear that I would be stranded. All's well that ends well, thanks so much to Harley Davidson of Asheville, NC
