I was going through my storage shed and came across a ton of old magazines. I found an article about the 1998 Road Glide, and an ad. When I have some free time the end of this week/weekend Ill try to get them scanned and up on here.

Updated with the magazine ad and article I came across this week.

AWESOME info! I'm really interested in knowing the history and background of what I'm riding. My new RGU is the first one I've ever ridden (test road and bought on the spot) and I was really curious about it's history...not too much out there. A buddy of mine has an '11 RGC and told me "It's the sleeper man, people don't realize how awesome these really are."

Now when someone asks I can give them a little history lesson.

That thing is sweet!! You talk to the owner any and get some info on it?

That was a great read! Thanks for posting all that. I have a couple of questions, 1998 was the only year the RG had an Evo? And was it only carburated? Then in '99 the RG got the 88TC and was fuel injection an option then?

Well I can add a little missing info, my 90 FLTC Tour Glide Classic has factory original 2-tone burgundy and candy red paint. Not sure of the "official" color names, though. I noticed that the 1990 year color schemes were missing...

Thank you sir,.. updated my info. At a stalemate of sorts on info,. exhausted all my resources and hoping the right people will find us and share info.

Don't forget. . .

Don't forget to make mention of the FXTR.....the Roadglide's "first cousin" and still a Shark! I saw this pristine example Saturday at Tarpon Springs Fl bikefest and seriously considered grand theft. I used to have an FXDXT that I want back badly (but not at the expense of my Roadie) and applaud the MoCo for trying it again with the Switchback. Anyway, the FXTR bikes were awesome...I want one but can't afford another bike, even If I could find one in this great of a state of repair!

I have contemplated adding that bike, and info about the vetter fairing that was the "original" sharknose type, but there is some info about that already. Your right, its related to the bike,.. but then again its not really a road glide. You can trace the tourglide geneology straight to the road glide,. but the FXRT is a distant cousin by marriage in a way. If I can get someone from the Moco to give me the full history, and the FXRT did indeed play a huge roll in creating the tourglide I would add it.

The FXRT had nothing to do with the birth of the Tour Glide . It came along in the mid 80s well after the TG was out .. I think the idea was and still is great for those who dont want the full size bagger , Super Glide is an awesome bike

My third bike was an 1980 flt. It was known as the 80-80. This brought back good memories as I put over 80,000 miles on that used bike. Yes it was an amf but with a little work it was a hell of a ride

Wasn't it also called the "Classic 80"? That was a sweet bike. I remember to this day when I first saw it. A young cop out of Trinidad, CO, owned it as his personal vehicle. We ran into each other a couple of times there, I was riding a /2 BMW, Earles fork, and used to joke with him that I would race him for pinkslips. He always declined, but he would have beat me hands down.
