Ive found a used bushtec Turbo at a good price, and Im contemplating pulling the trigger. Im thinking that it would make camping better with my two up road trips in that packing will be easier, and less cumbersome on the bike. I had a homebilt some years back but sold it for the following reasons:
1. It hindered cornering
2. Fuel mileage suffered at hwy speeds
3. The exhaust note was loud, bouncing off the front of the trailer

Am I stupid to think any of those will change with a different trailer? Thats my question. Fire away.

I've never had a trailer or pulled one,.. but I have been keeping an eye on those bushtec's. Check over at the CVO forum,.. this was a discussion not to long ago and those guys seem to love them.

I'll try to answer your questions, I've had a Bushtec Turbo for 7 years.
1. I did not notice any difference in cornering except for the extra weight. The heim joint make for an easy pull. Not like the ball unit used on most other set-ups.
2. I lose about 1-2 mpg when pulling but again, I feel that this is due to the added weight. The larger tires used by Bushtec helps a lot with the gas mileage and makes pulling much easier.
3. The exahust is louder for the reason you stated. I found that if you can turn your tip(s) out that this helps a LOT.
As a side note, if you get the trailer, look into the on-board air pump. I have it on mine and it makes adjusting the air shocks a piece of cake. Just push a button on the keyfob and adjust the air pressure up or down while you are riding.
I've had mine out west several times and it's seen 95 mph on several strips of road with no problems. No wobble and tracks true. If I were going to build another trailer, this is how I would build it. Fine product.
Hope I was of some help, Doc.

We pulled a Time Out camper quite a few thousand miles , no problems at all .. With an 80" stock '88 FLTC .. Two up and packed better than the Beverly Hillbillies , we got 38 mpg even pulling mountains , and running 75-80 mph ...

Always pay attention pulling into gas up and turning around .. You get a little nudge when you stop , and slow speed maneuvering , you can feel it , once on the road , never know its back there ...

Swiveling hitches are not necessary , watch your bearing buddies , mine one side never needed grease , other side was two three shots at every fuel stop ..

We hadda queen sized bed in ours .. Want to get another one ...
