Well I decided to go with hard wired comms instead of forking out the money for either the WHIM or Sena system on my bike.

So, I installed the 7 DIIN comm cable on my 2018 RGS today and used it with the iMC headset from Law Abiding Biker. Everything works perfect ! The only issue is a tone in the headset when making calls or using the voice prompt menu. It is a constant mid frequency tone. Not overbearing, just a nuisance. The person on the other end of the call can hear me loud and clear with no tone coming through, and I can hear them loud but have that annoying tone.

The constant tone is not there when listening to music or when using the navigation system. The prompts to turn etc. come in perfectly clear with no tone.

Has anyone had this issue when making calls and using the voice prompts?

I thought it may be feedback from the boom mic, so I disconnected it from the headset and still had the tone when using the voice prompts and making calls.

If it is part number: 69200865 cable to you can put on your tank, I know on the 15 road glides you install a ground wire to the back of the radio and pin to the installed harness behind the radio. Do you think you have a good ground on the radio, pin fully inserted in the harness, just a suggestion?

Thanks for the reply. The ground wire came with the kit and I watched the videos on Lawabidingbiker which also say you have to add that ground wire pin. But when I opened up my fairing and located the connector, it already has a wire in it. It is black with a pink/purple colored stripe so that is different than what the video shows. I think he had a '15. I called the dealership service department and they didn't know for sure either, they expected that pin to be empty. They assume it must have been a ground wire that HD added to the '18's. I'm going to try a different headset just to eliminate it as a possible cause, but I doubt it's the headset because all other functions, i.e. listening to the radio and listening to Navigation directions are crystal clear.

Using hardwired headset from J&M in a FF helmet. Don't have the tone you refer to......must be something different
