The sales manager at my dealership has a tour pak that he used on his '07 RG that is the same color as my RG. He recently traded it but kept the tour pak. He offered it to me yesterday for $200 and it comes with the king pad with the arm rests.

Here is my dilemna. He got it from a wrecked bike and spray painted it to match his bike because he only used it for long trips, then took it off. I do not plan leaving it on all the time either, but I want it to look good when it is on the bike. In addition, he powdercoated the chrome to black. My bike is chrome.

My question is as follows, should I buy it then have it painted and buy a new chrome bracket or would it just be more worth my time to buy a new color matched one from Harley? I have no clue what it would cost to paint it, does anyone know?

Thanks

I have seen several chrome t/p brackets on the HD forums classified pretty cheap.
Do you know a painter who can spray it for you, I beleive you will still have way less in it if you paint it than you will in all new parts.
If you decide you do not want it let me know, I will take it.
Where in NC are you. I got a buddy in Concord who can paint it for you.

$200 sounds like a great deal to me compared to the price of a new one. I think the newer tourpaks are ABS plastic compared to the older one's being fiberglass. I would make sure it is the newer plastic style.

The backrest pad alone is over $200 new. If the chrome under the powder coat is good, it wouldn't be hard to strip it. How is the rattle can job? If it's good from far, I'd definitely go for it....
