This question has been asked before im sure, but hear it goes, I hear a sound similar to pinging only between 2500 to 2900 rpm under light accel on my glide, I have a 2011 fltrx with a 96 inch motor with high flow air cleaner, fullsac sportpipe, feuling 525 cams and a power vision tuner, don't know if they all are noisy valvetrains at that speed or the map is off, the map is for woods 222 cams a fuel moto X-pipe and jackpot muffler, should I do a auto-tune with the power vision or try to get a better map maybe from fueling, Any advice?

Could be lifters, could be valve train.

When I did my 107, I saw my pistons, no ping damage, which surprised the heck out of me, so what I was hearing was either lifter or valve train noise, same RPM range.

I replaced the lifters with S&S premium lifters last year, gonna run an auto tune session on it, see what happens.

Spark knock will usually occur when you're roll on the throttle at low rpm when in a higher gear, it will also happen when cruising in 5th or 6th gear and you're pulling up a good hill.
Valve train noise is typical on these bikes and the Woods TW222 cams are a little noisey, on my bike I will hear the valve train mostly in the 2500 to 3000 rpm range and the noise will increase if the engine is under load like when it is pulling up hills
If the bike is spark knocking the sound is unmistakable and what you need to do is make some adjustments. First of all do the auto tune and see if that helps it will help if you're AFR is off. If that doesn't help try changing the base map and do the auto tune with the new map if it doesn't work you can alway go back the the base map you have right now.
If nothing works you may need to go get the bike dyno tuned and the tuner tech can retard the timing a little bit.

Changes Made During AutoTune
The following changes are made to the tu
ne file during the AutoTune process.
AutoTune Pro鈥攁utomatically applies a .pvv
to the tune that does the following:
鈥 Sets the base fuel table to one static value, 13.0 for AFR or .89 lambda.
鈥 Disables EITMS/PE/Adaptive Control.
鈥 AE/DE are still active in the tune, but there'
s logic to disable or minimize learning when
they're active.
AutoTune Basic鈥攁utomatically applies a .pvv
to the tune that does the following:
鈥 Sets the base fuel table to 14.6 for AFR based calibrations and .982 for lambda based
calibrations.
鈥 Disables AE/DE/EITMS/PE/Adaptive Control.
鈥 Retards 4 degrees of timing.
鈥 Bias the close loop range to .700mv on AFR based calibrations.
General
鈥 Sets calib to PVAT (Session Number).
鈥 Clears adaptive fuel tables after flashing.
AutoTune Notes and Tips
鈥 AutoTune can use the ECM's ion sensing knock control strategy in order to remove
timing/adjust spark advance from areas of your
calibration where knock was present. This
feature can only remove timing, it will never add it. It is not recommended to use this
feature with AutoTune Basic, only AutoTune Pr
o. This feature is disabled by default, but
changing the "Max Spark Learn" from 0 to
a value such as 10 would make it active.
鈥 If you do not have Wideband O2 sensors in
stalled (ie. those incl
uded in the Dynojet
AutoTune kit) select Basic mode.
鈥 The default values are acceptable for most
big twin models. If you have a V-Rod or
Sportster, you will need to adjust the temp
erature (in degrees C)
and RPM limit to an
acceptable range. Refer to
Editing the AutoTune Settings

鈥 Knock control on Sportsters is not possible;
the ECM does not support this feature and
AutoTune does not support automated spark adjustment based on knock activity.
鈥 In Pro mode, you can tune fuel and spark simultaneously; however, Dynojet recommends
to address fuel first, and then focus on spark.
To do this, after you've completed tuning the
fuel (via adjustments to your VE tables) and
flashed the corrected tune file to your ECM,
you can then start a new AutoTune session that's focused on spark corrections. In the
settings area of AutoTune you can set Max VE
Learn to 0 and Max Spark Learn to 10. This
will disable AutoTune's ability to change fuel, but allow it to monitor, record, and eventually
correct spark advance based on knock activity

Thanks for all the input, performed a auto tune session and it seems much better, sat I will take the scoot on a longer ride and confirm the results, it is definite spark knock or pinging as the culprit, seems to be okay I will keep posting on this matter.

Well I performed the auto-tune session and no more pinging with the glide, might run it again upstate running up hills under load to fine tune the map. thank you all for your input, this forum rocks!:D
