Tried to take some close-ups, nearly impossible on chrome. Will try something different tomorrow night. Most of what I thought were pitted places were burnt on tar or something & came off with some Goo-gone, WD40 & elbow grease. Only real noticeable scratches are on the RH side in the indentation for the shock/axle, can't see when mounted.

A good way to take pics of damage on chrome I have found,.. is take a piece of paper that is colored,.. like blue, red, green. Take a pic at an angle, so it shows the reflection of the color in the chrome at the damaged spot. Hard to explain, but if you set it up right, it shows up good.

Although these mufflers have only been on for a year or 4,000 miles so they have some imperfections from taking them on and off and rocks or road debris we all ride through. Mostly small and hard to take pictures of too. On the RH muffler there are some marks in the indentation for the axle/shock mount. On the same side a few marks on the top directly under where the bag goes and the side of the front hanger isn't perfect. Difficult to take pictures of, tried Chainsaw's suggestion without much success. These look good on, you'd have to really be looking with the bags off to see much; if you bought new ones and rode 4,000 miles, you'd probably have similar results, so if you like 'em, save yourself some $$$ and don't worry about the stuff you can't see when they're on and you're rumblin' on down the road.
