this has happened to me to. Motorcycle smoking after I had Dd 2to 1 billet cat exhaust installed.please inform me where the class action lawsuit has been filed EDIT TO REMOVE PERSONAL INFORMATION
That marking looks like it's from the piston thrust side. If something came apart from an exhaust I don't think it would be that concentrated in one area like that. Just sayin. Got a pic of the other 3 sides of the bore?

I find that the only place I can find any claims of coating material causing engine damage by a D&D Exhaust ( which I am skeptical of) is on this site. Also the claim of a class action lawsuit doesn't seem to have any merit either.Hopefully someone from D&D will see all this and address this accusation, if in fact, it really is an issue. Because of right now it seems a little one sided, and lacks any definitive proof.
I have no skin in the game, but I don't like seeing companies bashed merely by hearsay and assumptions. If it's true, so be it.

Ease up, the title states"warning" and the poster stated that "from what we've been told" there is a class action lawsuit in the works. Nobody condemned the company to Hell..... at least yet. He is speaking from real world experience and bringing his findings to us, his FAMILY, so it keeps our head on a swivel and that much more educated before we go spending our hard earned money on something that could potentially bite us.

Again all hearsay, and no actual proof there is some wide spread issue.

I debated between D&D and FulSac. Decided on FulSac because I could use my Tabs. The 2-1-2 sounds great. Real quality pipes that fit perfect and used my stock shields. Looks like I finally came out on the right side for once.

I spoke with @lbskis and he agreed we should put something out there for the forum.

It has come to our attention from other shops we know and other tuners we know of a potential issue that is arising on bikes running D&D exhausts. Apparently, the coating D&D puts on the INSIDE of their exhausts is breaking down / flaking off and the debris is turning into sand for lack of a better comparison. That trash is then going through the engine. From what we’ve been told, there is even a class action lawsuit in the works because D&D has said these failures are not their fault. We know of a couple Dyno tuners that are already refusing to tune bikes with D&D exhaust for fear of how a failure could look like they (the tuner) caused it. We know of a major company that has already returned all prototype exhausts and all in stock exhaust to D&D.

I am not looking to start a debate or argument and don’t have time for it. I just simply wanted to put info I’ve been given, out to forum members.
Struggling to understand how a coating inside the exhaust ends up inside the engine?

I am an owner of a 2019 roadglide that this has happened to twice after Rusty from D&D was adament there was nothing wrong with the pipe and blamed everything and everybody but the pipe. Would like to know more about the class actio lawsuit. Bike is currently in Daytona being rebuilt again

This is very real , I know first hand and would like some info on the lawsuit

Sorry, I all hear is what someone said. Any pictures or proof positive this is happening? A lot of assumptions and theories, but still no proof. And no class action lawsuit to be found.
I’m going with where there’s smoke there’s fire. Murphs boss who initiated that post runs a big shop and they’re part of a very large group of dealerships that specializes in high HP bikes and do a lot of work and get a lot of top name builders bringing bikes there to be tuned. They have their ear to the street and would likely know more than your average person. The fact they will not tune any bike with a D&D or sell or install one in any of the dealerships says something.

Word was this is what they’re hearing among other dealerships and shops. So He gave a heads up. Buyer beware. Swim at your own risk. Take it or leave it.

Some people are afraid of repercussions if they’re a small shop so they’re not trying to lose business so they will keep quiet. Which can’t really blame them. But in the meantime. I’ll stick with S&S anyway.

Just to add Landan and Murph are as stand up as they come. And not shit stirrers for no reason.

@RFG7680 Murph and I appreciate you adding your words on this topic. Our objective was to simply notify the members of what we heard. It's all good. Hope you are well up in the north!

Dealing with our bipolar weather as best we can. Lol. 87” of snow totals this year so far. I apologize our weather got drunk and ended up in your yard. But I don’t really feel too bad. 😁 Hope alls well.

Meanwhile an hour south of you, We've had a total of 24" this year and I think 16 of that came 1 or 2 inches at a time. I've only have to use the quad to plow about 3times this year.

Here is a photo of the piston from the first engine that was destroyed from the D and D pipe for reference. The pictures for the second one will appear on this site once I return to Florida.

Well, with that said, I’ll err on the side of caution.
I’m Dyno’d with my Billet cat. I think the side winder is probably the closest match with the right baffle. Going into summer, a dyno run is a little bit down the road.

soooooo, who’s having some good prices on systems?

thanks for looking out.

Love my Sidewinder, but if I was you, I'd pull the header and see what it looks like and then proceed from there. If it looks like it's good. Do you have access to a bore scope? Pull the muffler and take a peek.
