Hello,

New to the forum I own a 15 RGS recently I noticed bad vibration from my from end when front brake is applied! took it in for a regular service and mentioned this to the service writer he said no problem we will check it out. Couple days go by and I get a call from harley stating my rotors are beyond warped..... So my first response was ok warranty will take care of this right? they said NO due to the rotors being aftermarket! I purchased the bike from a different harley dealer with all the aftermarket wheels and rotors installed brand new! I purchased the ESP warranty for the wheels and tires showed them the proof still got nowhere. I called the harley dealer where I purchased the bike and the service manager said the factory warranty on the rotors had expired 2 weeks prior. So what happens now just wondering if you all had any experience in any of this the rotors came from custom chrome..... Pretty upset I have a bad ass bike and cant enjoy due to this thanks in advance any suggestions or comments are appreciated...

Cheers,
Angeluz

Your best bet might be to contact the manufacturer of the aftermarket rotors. See if they stand behind their product or not. I'm not surprised that Harley won't help when it's not their equipment. I know you bought the ESP but I would bet it says somewhere that it only covers Harley parts. I installed an aftermarket OEM equivalent backup camera in my truck and purchased an ESP. If the backup camera fails I'll be calling the camera manufacturer not Ford.

That sucks! I've been curious how warped rotors would affect the "linked braking" of the new Touring bikes. The only experience I've had with warped rotors was scary stuff. Almost to the point that I stopped using my front brakes. With the linked setup, you don't have that option.

My symptom wasn't vibration. The forks would dive, and pulse (up/down; up/down). Easy to recognize at low speed. And terrifying at high speed. Safety first. No matter the cost, get those brakes sorted out! Even if you have to pay for it yourself.

I'm sure most would agree: Safety should always override budget. If it ain't safe, make it so. Losing control because your brakes are wonky could get way more expensive than the cost of replacing rotors. Hospital stays aren't cheap either. Nor are funerals.

I know you called the dealer you bought it from, but I would ride it to the dealer on a Saturday when it's busy and I would discuss this with the service manager and if you don't resolve it, talk with the store manager. IF that doesn't work then I would start talking a little loud where shoppers can hear and express your belief that they were false advertising when you bought the bike with esp and that you bought in good faith a bike that they had changed out things and were assured everything was covered. I'm sure under these circumstances you will get something done.

I've been known to do this with good results.

It's amazing how making a scene can get results. Just make sure you do it the right way, I have actually had the police called on me once because of the scene I made at an IHOP. I refused to leave because I wasn't satisfied with what the manager was offering to resolve my issue and wanted to talk to the district manager. Next thing I knew the po po were there and I was being escorted out. Didn't have to pay though, when all I was wanting was one of the four meals credited so I guess I was a winner.

I would have to agree with hifiho, safety first, just replace them with full floaters and get back to riding.

That’s what I decided to do that instead of spending my time venting to the dealership and getting nowhere with them. I figured it was time to upgrade to full floaters anyway, so I replaced them myself to save on the labor costs. Purchased the rotors from Jon H. @ Horny Toad HD and saved a bunch of money.

Just remember, if it has breasts, wheels or floats, it’s gonna cost you money!
