Mine, in no particular order:

Utah HWY 95 between Blanding and Hanksville.

Utah HWY 128, from Cisco (at I-70) to Moab.

Texas HWY 170 between Presedio and Terlingua.

The PCH southbound, from central Oregon down past Big Sur.

US 212 aka the Beartooth HWY

edited to add: The best DAY of riding in my 38 years of doing so was a series of roads in Oregon through Hell's Canyon, from Bakersville up to Enterprise. Parts are like Tail of the Dragon, except it goes on for over 100 miles and there is NO traffic or trash on the road.

I dont know about a top five but I can tell you the most wicked road Ive traveled was 168 from Nevada into Big Pine CA. It basically cuts from death valley over the mountain, and yes Ive ridden the dragon (219) Deals Gap in NC.

The Devil's Highway (US-191) from Morenci to Alpine, Az. Ninety miles of twisties!

Million Dollar Highway (US-550) from Durango to Ouray, CO.

Beartooth Highway (US-212) from Cooke City to Red Lodge, MT.

Chief Joseph Highway (WYO-296) in Wyoming.

Wickenburg to Flagstaff, Az via AZ-89 & 89A. A very nice ride of 150 miles. Not in the same league as the others, but it can be a day ride from here.

Riding across Death valley, Riding the high desert Mohave.

PCH all of it!

Top 5 rides

It changes regularly, but current top 5!

1. Hwy 12 Lolo Mt to Lewiston Id. 100 miles of fast sweepers.
2. Hwy 20 Burlington Wa to Winthrop Wa. Winthrop is a must see. Going west to east stop at Marblemount for an awesome breakfast and some history.
3. Hwy 99 Cache Creek BC to Whistler BC. A little rough around Lillooet but gets better and better.
4. Hwy 129 Lewiston Id to Enterprise Or. Hundreds of Switchbacks, not fast but worth it. Stop and read the population sign at Anatone Wa, the cemetary sign is right next to it, hilariious!
5. No Number, Kaslo BC to New Denver BC. short but sweet.

My top 5

1. Icefields Parkway, Hwy 93, Lake Louise to Jasper, AB
2. BC 31A, Kaslo to New Denver, liked it so much rode it 3 times in 1 day in the middle of a mini cooper rally.
3. BC, AB Hwy 3,93,95 from Crowsnest Pass to Creston (ends at a brewery)
4. AB Hwy 22/6, Cowboy Trail from US border to Priddis.
5. AB hwy 40 over the Highwood Pass from Bow Valley Parkway junction to Longview. Rode it again last July, 85F at the junction, 38F at the top of the pass, had to stop and put on all my rain gear, gloves included to stop the cold wind, sweating profusely when I reached Longview

These may not be the most techincal rides but the scenery makes it very difficult to concentrate on the road. Breathtaking is a minimum to describe them.

some have been mentioned already... in no order however Gaspe and California's PC1 are top of the heap!

- Beartooth Highway, Montana - vast and breath taking

- #3 from Nelson-to-Osyoos British Columbia - amazing!

- Deal's Gap and the 133 miles of The Gauntlet from Blairsville GA - southern twisties

- Blue Ridge Pkw - lazy and beautiful

- Natchez Trace Parkway (maybe not do all of it but it's a nice slow ride)

- Penn 144 just north of State College up to Galeton - twisty back road glory

- Hwy 20 from Quebec City onto 132 around Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec - breath taking scenery, Atlantic glory and old world French culture

- PC1 - the west coast equivalent of the Gaspe tour... the smells and sights of the Pacific coast but missing any culture

... most of all though are ANY highway, road or path that leads me out of Chicaoland...

there are all kinds of cool roads in that area of British Columbia aren't there. not sure if there is a better road then the Kananaskis highway. I have been on the majority of the roads mentioined many several times and I have literally been on Hyw 12 W from Lolo to Lewiston 100's of times and never get tired of it. Lucky is the man who lives and gets to ride out west for sure.

yes BC is amazing all the way through Trails End in Alaska... best hand balanced tire I ever had installed was in a old shack there smaller than most garden sheds.

this thread has me really asking why I live here in Chicago now... great city, world class but flatter than a board... damn work transfer.

Live to work or work to live?

Perhaps I read this thread in a few days and take a look at the posts and stick pins on a map and draw a circle around the area with the most? then the job search is on...

Just turned 40 and although young I do wonder... what is this rat race for?

keep the posts coming... I have a major itch!!

The only one for me that has not been mentioned already is the road to Hana on the island of Maui. 680 curves in 30 miles all thru the jungle with waterfalls everywhere. Just amazing.
