What did you do to your Road Glide Today?

I've seen these threads on other forums, and they can go on forever. Just some place to post what you might have done in any particular day.

I'll start with this past weekend. I went out Sunday morning intending to ride down the road, any road. When the first 40mph gust of wind hit me, I changed my mind and headed over to Iron Pony instead. It being early Sunday, and the service dept was open, I decided to get the new tires I was needing. So, a few dollars later I ended up with two new Dunlop American Elites and new pads on the front brakes. They were out of the Metzler ME880's, but these are new model Dunlops, and it appears they only make two sizes so far, both just happen to fit my bike. Web site says more sizes coming in 2011. Only have about 300 miles on them, but so far they seem to be good tires. Holds the wind well :D (Sunday was VERY windy, almost got blown over getting off the bike)

Next up, Progressive 940's are on the way.

Just as bad as all those reviews on Harleys. Meh, not had an issue and I still own the chair and the Harley.
:)
I hear ya. I bought two of these for $80 over 5 years ago. Lighter, works well on uneven ground, smaller than the Cliq and easy to carry/assemble. A few of my friends have bought them now as well.

/Sounds just like the Freewheeler and Tri Glide issue. I put Royal Purple gear oil in there and it took care of the issue.

My tranny likes synthetic 75/140 as well, usually buy Lucas as it is readily available here in my small town

What is it and did you do this yourself?
Cleaned up my shop from my winter overhaul on the Shovel. Pulled the Glide out, washed it down, went for a little spin around the block, mounted the bags, and put it in the primary parking spot for the upcoming season. Soon....oh so soon

Checked off a few small things, getting the Glide prepared to be brought out of hibernation. Bled the brakes, added speed bleeders, purged the ABS system with my new ITM unit, adjusted my drive belt, tightened up the clutch adjuster, replaced front rotor bolts with chrome bolts, installed the Tour Pak, fixed rear speaker wiring, and then a quick little test ride to make sure I had brakes - which all checked out. Ready to roll - just waiting to see how this week's weather turns out, they are talking possibly more bloody snow upcoming

My understanding with the ABS purge is that it isn't only about getting moisture out but to move fluid out of there that may have never circulated prior, and can become hardened - I guess that is due to moisture. I do my fluid every two years for peace of mind and this year, I was surprised at the amount of hardened crystals above the reservoir's rubber diaphram; you always get some and that is the design, but mine needed a good clean with some brake cleaner; just goes to show that I had gotten that fluid nice and hot and it pushed past the diaphram - just as designed.

The speed bleeders look like a very nice little upgrade at very low cost. Thanks!
As much as I enjoyed getting my sons out to teach them some mechanics, bleeding brakes with them was painful as they let the reservoir empty time after time. lol. Speedbleeders make bleeding brakes painless and a one-man job. Once you have them, you will always have them on every bike that you plan to keep and bleed brakes.

There are many companies that sell them, I bought mine right from Speedbleeder: http://www.speedbleeder.com/

@Mike U - seeing as the tax return cash flow is gushing - perhaps look at a Better Lever for your trans shift arm while you are in there. Might need it once you start mashing the gears with that chain drive. https://www.betterlever.com/product/better-lever/

I went and looked it up and apparently it doesn’t work with my opener. Damn it.
Check out a Tailwind system. It automatically opens my door as I am coming down the street and it closes the door as I drive away; I use their little pucks in both my Road Glide and my Shovelhead - no wiring needed on the bike. You can also use your phone to open your garage from anywhere on the globe if need be.

The chamberlain I have uses the Q-2 app. It works great, but I don’t like fiddling with the phone in the neighborhood.
No need to touch the phone at all with the Tailwind. If you have a regular Bluetooth pairing - say your phone to your bike or your phone to your car - it will recognize that signal and you set the distance you want your door to open and close - you never touch the phone. The pucks they offer work the same way - I keep one in my tool bag. I turn onto my street and about 3 houses away, my door starts to open, I pop it into neutral before I hit my driveway and I roll right into my garage.

Really slick system. Thanks for the heads-up. I had never heard of it before.
Two of my riding buds have now bought a Tailwind and aso my neighbour after seeing how well it works. You just need wifi connection to the main unit on your garage door motor.

I finally got back to working on my Glide before I insure it for the season. I pulled my shift levers to raise my front arm up a bit more, added the Softbrake spring spacer while in there. Also pulled my fairing to address the wiring on my Clearwater lights and to also see about adjusting my stereo placement into the inner fairing; since adding this inner fairing, I have been getting moisture issues into my faceplate of the Aquatics stereo. As always, these Pre-Rushmore fairings put up a fight going back on, especially as I have CD lighted trim and a heavy Madstad - luckily, my friend stopped by for a visit as I was smoking a brisket, so I made him work for his meal. lol. just need to address the O rings on my rear pushrods, might do that today. Might not.

I finally insured it - though our April weather has been horrible. Been getting over an inch of rain everyday from last Friday - it snowed just a mile up the road from me as the road starts climbing through the mountains; I have been riding up this road for a month now (on my other bike)

There was a break in our week long rain storm, so I skipped out of work for my first ride on the Glide of the season. It felt a helluva lot different than my Shovel that I have been riding for the last 6 months but it didn't take long at all to realize how much I missed my Glide and how nice it rides and fits me. Supposed to be another 4 days of rain - but I am sure looking forward to this riding season getting going.

Testing a new front tire and messing around with camera angles in my local canyons . . .
Fun riding! Is it the upload quality that makes it a little blurry?
^ all looks really good - nice mods

I had something on my old bike from custom dynamics where you could set the flash pattern. I had mine set to flash 3 times every time I put on the brake. not sure if it was this magic strobe or not, I will check that out, thanks.

brain dead cagers, now with a lot of them high, concern me nowadays.
Depending on what your rear tail light(s) are you can also now just buy an 1157 LED bulb that will also flash 3 times when you hit the brake; I just added one on my old Softail earlier this year.
