What did you do to your Road Glide Today?

I've seen these threads on other forums, and they can go on forever. Just some place to post what you might have done in any particular day.

I'll start with this past weekend. I went out Sunday morning intending to ride down the road, any road. When the first 40mph gust of wind hit me, I changed my mind and headed over to Iron Pony instead. It being early Sunday, and the service dept was open, I decided to get the new tires I was needing. So, a few dollars later I ended up with two new Dunlop American Elites and new pads on the front brakes. They were out of the Metzler ME880's, but these are new model Dunlops, and it appears they only make two sizes so far, both just happen to fit my bike. Web site says more sizes coming in 2011. Only have about 300 miles on them, but so far they seem to be good tires. Holds the wind well :D (Sunday was VERY windy, almost got blown over getting off the bike)

Next up, Progressive 940's are on the way.

Added a set of lid rails and a Softbrake pedal.

New candy looks good. What part #on the brake pedal?
Well, technically it wasn't today, it was yesterday. Buuuuut.....since I believe it was @UncleFuzzy who told me in another thread my bike wasn't fast enough, I put in a stage 2 power cam and a couple of other goodies.

I went with the stage 2 air cleaner that retains the stock cover, both because it provides some protection against the elements and it gives more of a stock appearance. Stock header pipe, and some SVT Boneshakers. I am SUPER happy with it, especially given the kind of riding I do, which is mostly interstate these days. Not only does it SEVERELY wake up the 107 after 3,000 RPM, but just as importantly to me, it sounds like a Harley-Davidson again. I think most of us know by now that an M8 will never sound like a twin cam, or an evo, or a shovel, etc, but the cam gives the engine a REALLY nice thump at idle, especially after it's warmed up, and the Boneshakers absolutely growl all the way through acceleration, and run nice and quiet at cruise. I couldn't ask for more. It's a blast to ride.

I'm pretty sure that the dip up front is due to the choice of slip ons combined with the cam. The only place I notice it in the seat is puttering around town at very low speed, and minimal throttle input. It's there but it doesn't bother me. The sound is worth it. On the road, 3,000 rpm is the new 2,000 rpm as far as normal cruising is concerned. And as long as you keep it in that power band, you'll run out of speedometer before you run out of HP. This setup will do me for a while. Down the road a couple of years I can see doing a little more serious build with some Cycle Rama equipment, but this'll do me just fine for now.

I needed to adjust my bars, I wanted to pull them a small amount closer to myself, and as I was torquing one of the riser clamp bolts it stripped and pulled all of the threads out of the aluminum riser.
SO I had to get a new lower clamp and replace it. I had to pull the 2 bolts holding the clamp (that go through the bushings), retorque those bolts and proceed with reinstalling the bars, a little closer to myself.

A 20 minute job became a 2 hour job PLUS the drive to the HD Dealership.
So today I finished up putting a Baker side cover on my FLRTU. not too bad of a job.. seems to work really well and it is supposed to get rid of the fluid transfer to the primary. Time will tell...

put on a new rear tire. figured out what that goddamn rattle was in the back end - the rubber bushing for the exhaust support worked its way loose and it was metal on metal down the road. Also, replaced the stock riser bushings with the polyurethane ones. really got a lot of slop in the handle bars this season. that really sured them up nicely. first time doing that. that can be awkward as hell taking that all apart.
I did this today! Found on eBay a while ago. Looks Great!

I spent way too much time looking at new bars instead of working, finally decided to just have some custom made to my exact measurements. Then, I needed to go for a ride and decided to pick my son up from his elementary school - he sure loved waving to all his friends from the back of the bike.

Added lowers to the Tall Glide.
Just took mine off for the summer. I miss the extra set of speakers ,but it's much cooler on the right leg riding in town.
Got 'em, like 'em, but you are correct-too hot for the Texas summer.
Took them off and will store them til Fall!
Put 86 miles on it and washed it.

There’s just no easy way to keep this thing clean.

Drove to work and back and rolled over 60k (kilometers) on this fine pre-summer day. Still haven't finished getting it to where I want it to be, but that's the fun part.
