FWIW......Thing that makes me wonder about the MOCO OIl is that they bid that contract out. Low bid wins...I'm sure they set some minimum specs for quality but still makes me wonder what are we really getting quality wise.
Since motor oil is a small expense and the costs don't vary all that much I'd rather go with someone who's name and reputation is highly visable on the product and has a long term track record.
Good point. I see the same thing with tires (I work for Goodyear). People come in wanting the tire that "came on the car" because they think it's the best tire but in reality it's the tire that got the lowest bid when the OE was shopping brands.
Also, if you're going to run a full synthetic, and you REALLY want a full synthetic, go with one of the specialty brands like Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple, etc. Synthetics like Mobil 1, Castrol, Valvoline, Harley Syn3, etc are not true synthetics. They are class 4 crude (crude oil with the highest level of refinement) with some synthetic properties added in.
Of course, I've used those more common synthetics myself plenty of times, and had no problems. But the bike gets the REAL stuff.
