I'm trying to decide between a 2008 Mirage Orange ($19k) and a 2005 Custom Burnt Orange ($12k) that I would build-up with blacked out forks, bars, cleaner and dual exhaust (~$2k parts). What do ya think?

well, the 09's are more pricey and then adding 2 grand worth of parts makes it that much more. the OL is already looking at me funny. I haven't been able to sell my Night Train outright so going to a dealer and taking a beating is my only other option (which both of the above bikes are).

Yep, lots of them out there but what do I do with the Train (no room for 2 bikes :D)?

Found some real good deals and even lowered the price of the Train to $1k higher than a dealer trade-in ($8999) but no takers yet. :(

I would seriously think long and hard about biting the bullet and buying an '09. The new frames are a million times better then the 08's and earlier. Its something that the first mile you ride, you will appreciate where that extra money went. Its so worth it, I promise you.

O.K. - read up on the 09's, hum!? I can sell the ABS to the OL as a 'safety item' but how do I sell the 'better frame'? Guess I can use the improved handling and road feel as a 'safety item'. There's an 09 in Salt Lake City, Mirage Orange, for $4k less than the 08 I'm looking at here and the OL just told me on Sunday that she wants to visit her ailing/dying Aunt and Uncle in SLC soon - hum!? Can you say - Trailer Road Trip!!!:D

Take her with you, and see if you can test drive them with her riding. Or find friends that will let you ride theirs to compare. The OL will tell you after she rides both, fu*k the 08, spend the extra if needed and get the 09. Oh, and you want ABS.. I don't know how I lived without it before. I hope I never have to go back to not having ABS on a touring bike again.

Ya I read about a guy high siding on the wet, leaf covered road the other week and I thought, hum!?, if he had ABS that wouldn't have happened. Decided right then to get ABS. No 2009's locally to ride around here. Go'na take the 08 out again, maybe tomorrow, if it quits raining.

Why do you say that?
Because the old saying is "Once you go ROADSHARK, there's no turning back!" LOL I road my friends Road Glide once and I couldn't stop thinking about it until one was sitting in my garage.

It was sold
Yea...one of our members from KY bought it, correct?

The first one I demo'd was a red 2007; since I ride a softail I wasn't ready for the vibrating engine. I thought the whole thing sucked and the bike needed a tune or something. Then I was informed about the glide motors. I next rode a Black Pearl 05 and it wasn't so bad. Now I read that the 2009's have more isolation so the vibration is down some. Next is the 08. :)

You want to feel vibration,.. ride an old Ironhead. :) Just sitting on the seat will get most women's panties all wet because of the vibes.
