RGSGary... Does this AKE device plug into a 7 pin plug that your wired headset would otherwise plug into? If not, how does it connect to the bike? Does it work just like wired headset would work? Thanks! This looks good.
Sorry I have not responded earlier.
I purchased the AKE because I wanted bike to bike communication (Cardo G9), voice communication to the bike and sound through the helmet speakers or ear buds. I did not want to be wired.
The AKE plugs into the 7 pin plug that the wired set does. I placed the AKE into the left storage area on the fairing. The switch (Duplex-mono/Stereo/On-Off) was mounted in the storage door. The AKE is powered by the auxiliary switch that I installed.
The AKE pairs to my Cardo G9 as a phone. I have full voice commands of the radio. The handle bar switches are completely functional and controls the radio and other attachments. So you can advance tracks by using the the handle bar controls or voice. I hear all my prompts and music in stereo or duplex mode. Voice communication is only in duplex. When the AKE first powers up it is in duplex.
The only problem I have is with the G9 unit. The phone has priority over the intercom, I do not know how to change this. When I am listening to music and another rider tries to contact me the intercom will not notify me, or I don't hear the tone.
AKE has good customer service. I had a problem with the AKE pairing on the first try. It would take 2-3 on/off cycles to pair. They are replacing the unit.
