Be safe and have a great time/ride. The weather looks like it will be comfortable.
Elevation changes will drop temps quick this time of year.

There are several other routes that are must rides very close to Deal's Gap. Try to get several in.

These are just a few that are close.
Just there the 1st of Sept. As he said other rides definitely worth the ride while there. Cherohala Skyway and Moonshiners for sure. Take plenty of pics and be safe, prolly a lot of leaf peepers this time of year.

madmaps has a very nice map with motorcycle rides of that area. all are marked with fuel stops, info about the sights on each ride, miles etc. very helpful.

+1 on all these roads.........I'll add to be just a bit more cautious this time of year........
They do a GREAT job keeping the Dragon clear, but with the leaves falling and if it's any rain at all, they can get slick..........

Also due to leaves changing, may be more "Leaf Peepers" than normal....Watch out for them especially near pull-offs........they'll cut you off in heartbeat to stop for that "Perfect Picture"............. Ride safe & have fun!!

We did the "Tail" this past spring. Many other great roads in the area as stated. Ride safe.

Just up there a couple of weekends ago. Great riding in the whole area. A road often overlooked is Wayah Rd (SR 1310 I believe). Take a left off the end of 129 and go just 2-3 miles. Turns off to your right. Its about 30 miles long going down toward Franklin. Of course you've got to do Cherohola, and any part of 28 is great too. Have fun..
