Thank all of you. Still blows my mind how a wheel chair can cost more than a New Harley touring bike with a lot of mods.
Don't say that too loud, HD will raise it's MSRP! So happy for her that she's getting the new chair. Another path to freedoms she hasn't had before.

Good news this morning. The last two insures stopped fighting each other. TRICARE Stepped up. Her new standing power wheel chair will be here in 3 to 8 weeks. There should no longer be any road blocks. TRICare has said they will pay more of the cost than was quoted in the past. We won't know the full amount left to us for a bit. That does not madder. Knowing what caused all the delays and issues does not make the wait any better. At least now it has been solved.
Stand by. Expect a thread next year on a new flat bed sidecar setup to drive the power chair on.
Does this entail a trip to the sidecar place in Kentucky? I'm ready to hit the road.....

After a year of fighting insurance companies over Payton's chance at a powered, stander wheel chair we won. They tried another delay after approving their part of it but said the paper work was now to old and we need to start over. Saw it coming.
last month I had the doctors do a new report and soon as they pulled that I sent the new one to them an called them out. the next day the call came every dime of their part was approved. The chair is a 3 part system. The base that id the power unit, the wheelchair and the addition that allows her to go to a standing position. She can even move while upright. They consider the ability to stand not medically necessary and this is some what a newer thing. So they will not cover the standing option. The total cost are up to about 25 to $27,000 .
With them paying their part we pick up $8,500. So that comes out of my bike saving. This is going to be great. Looks like next week they will take new measurements of her and get things moving. I am having The PT specialist she has seen most of her life do the fitting with the company. That lady knows her stuff and she knows Payton.
Her and I have talked already about a flat deck for a sidecar and she can drive right on and strap it down.
This is an Idea of the system one she demoed it is an adult setup so way to big for her. She could not go to full stand with an adult size of course. It was more to see how she could operate the controls. She want camo pink fender pain as of now she said pink was faster.

That right there is way more better than any bike you could have bought.

3 days and counting. Payton is now having dreams of her new chair and freedom it will offer her. Friend of my sons that grew up around this home also is helping tear out the floor in Sons house and making changes. Decided to rip a bit more out , like the kitchen and replace cabinets. Checked on chair yesterday. Appointment for 0800 Monday is on.

How far do you have to travel to pick it up? No idea if you have to go to the factory to get it, or if it gets shipped to a local medical supply dealer. Either way, we'll be waiting to see Peyton with her new "wheels"! Truly a "Christmas in July" moment for all involved.

About 50 miles each way. No big deal . With only one tech working starting right after the COV19 thing started he is swapped. It made it a lot easier if we went to them.

You're right SE, most of us have had very little to feel good about this year. This has been a nice 'success' story.

Your a great father and my hats off to you sir ,God bless your little girl she is a doll .
Thank you. I am her grandfather. Her dad is in Afghanistan. good news is I think he will be home mid August now. Gave my son our word we would take care of her and done our best . This is not the first time we have had custody of her. This time was different due to her growing up so fast.
Last thing she said last night was she needs a ride.

This is worst than Christmas. 17 1/2 hours she will be at the place to get her chair. She keeps coming up with Ideas . We should go to bed now so morning gets here. We should just go for a ride all night so we won't think about it.
She will have to go through some adjustments to the chair to fit her. She will have to operate it a while. I have to be trained on the do's and don't of the stand up and recline function. I keep telling her it not show grab the chair and go.
I have been hiding down at her and her Dads house working on some things. She is sending me all these ideas through my wife.

No surprise Payton nor I got any real sleep last night. All went well in Madison The chair is home and she will start phase 2 of driving lessons. 100%mask required at the place so hard to see her face. Like many the mask really bug her . She was real excited.
The manufacture had a rep there also.Couple pictures and a link to the rest. Today opens a new world for her.
