Windshield Brass Insert Loose

Well, I guess I'm not one of those guy's who can remove and install their front fairing 1,000 times without messing it up....

I was taking things apart, and I can's get one of the windshield screws to come out....

I was able to get a set of bolt cutters on it and snipped the head......

Found out that I had Cross threaded the SOB, and the brass insert was loose and spinning....

I was able to get the fairing off, and changed my headlight, and got the rear speakers hooked back up to the amp...

So now, I have to figure out what to do with that brass fitting....

I've seen the "BATWING" Brass Fitting repair kit on Amazon.....Not sure if that'll work on the 2018 Road Glide...

And, I'm sure whatever solution the "STEALERSHIP" has is 1: Overpriced, and 2: Backordered for 4-20 weeks...

Worst case I run it with 3 screws until I figure it out....

Thoughts?
Tips?
Hint's?
I'm fucked???

Thanks

Well, the "BATWING" Fairing repair kit doesn't work....

First, the thread size is totally wrong. Mucho bigger'o.....

I tired the local ACE hardware store for the 10-32 threaded inserts.....They don't have them...

They are on Amazon....

One trick I saw on YouTube was to put a soldering iron on the brass fitting, and warm it up, so it would release out of the hole....Didn't work for me....

I did see the wellnut install. That's what they used on the 2015 and earlier bikes....

I may try and drill the thing out tomorrow.....And then see if I can find something to put in there....

The "FACTORY/Dealer" solution is a whole new speaker pod.....

One is about $125.....

I saw someone on YouTube that ordered a pair off of Amazon, for about the same price. But I think he said the thread sizes were slightly different. But if all 4 are the same size screw, it's not a big deal.....

I'm going to sleep on it....

Someone somewhere is going to have to come up with an "EASIER" solution....I mean you are gonna fuck it up sooner or later if you keep taking that fairing off....

I'm surprised on of the Stereo outfits hasn't come up with a solution....

I CAN NOT get the damn insert out of the hole....

I think I'm going to open up the back side of that mount, and drill it out from the back side....

THEN, I'll see if I can find a brass fitting to go in, then seal up the back again with some RTV or Liquid Plastic or JB Weld...

I've got a set of Amazon Speaker pods coming, so IF I fuck it up totally, I've got a back up....

I can't believe with EVERYONE taking their fairings on and off to do lighting, stereo's, etc, that someone out there hasn't come up with a fix OTHER than replacing the pod....
