I have a 99rg and i am looking to change out my windshield.Genuine motor accessories lists windshields and windshield strips for 04up.I wonder if anybody knows what the difference is between 03down and 04up windshields and strips are compatible?

I went thru this when I got my 01 and the only difference I found was in 04 the stock height of the shield changes from 12" to 14" other than that the shields are the same , I have a stock 04 shield on my 01 right now( cut down about 1" ) as far as the strips I have no idea .

you still use the rubber strip on the windshield bottom?

In 04 they changed the tilt of the fairing. Some of the stock HD windshields say they don't fit pre 04s. I think clearview also makes a seperate versions for pre O4s but all the others don't mention a differance. I have been wondering about this myself. The only thing I can think of is maybe the angle of the windshield causes a handle bar clearance issue when the bars are turned.

I do still have the rubber strip on the bottom of my shield the strip from my 01 shield works on the 04 shield fine .

Slipstreamer clear 18" for 2001 RG

I'm using a 2001, 18" clear,3mm thick Slipstreamer on my 2005 RG. With wonderful results and it was only $93 with shipping. I'll be using a 2001 windshield on the 2011 RG Ultra when I buy one.
