Spoke with the Mothship today and got the following production numbers for the US 2019 CVO
Mako Shark Fade 995 and 116 for California
Red Pepper 490 and 54 for California
Silver 840 and 94 for California
If you own a Red Pepper CVO you are in the minority even though Mako Shark Fade is the best color comination LOL

Total production numbers (by paint scheme) for 2019 CVO RGs.

I doubt the 2020s will reach those numbers, based on late production, sparse advertising/promotions, and a paint scheme that leaves most of us wondering where the paint schemes that made CVOs the distinctive gorgeous bikes they've been have disappeared to. Almost all the things that used to make CVOs truly special have all but disappeared in favor of a few dollars more profit. Your "numbers" are interesting in that HD had said a year or more ago that they were going to go back to a set number of CVO bikes being produced (1,000 - 1,250 units) in order to make them more special. Remember when you bought a CVO (any model) years ago and they all had a tag that said for example "#48 of 1,000" . I thought that the 'Class of 2019' CVOs were headed in the right direction in terms of their paint being something special, but they just make me feel even stronger that the 2020 CVO was purely an after thought. They're beyond my budget to begin with, but I still like to admire them, just wish they'd focus on making them more "special" again.

My assumption would be that it's Cali emissions that's a separate requirement, probably on most if not all HD models.

I believe the only difference is Cali spec bikes utilize an evaporative emissions system like cars and trucks do. Basically capturing fuel vapors and feeding them into the combustion process vs. venting to atmosphere.

Thank you for the numbers, but did you happen to get all production numbers including international / rest of world numbers? the US figures seem very low..

I have the Red Pepper in Switzerland and have seen one each from Portugal, Lithuania and Austria... no others.
I’ve seen only one in 2-1/2 years in Indiana, USA, and it is mine!! I get lots of comments about the paint job!!

Steady "My Friend " Eddie the numbers represent the total production number for thay particular color and my assumption is the California models have an extra EPA step? Maybe one of our Cali members could explain there EPA rules
Ohiobellboy my understanding is normal bikes and then Cali bikes
Jack my Mother always said I was "special" LOL

Uncle Fuzzy, I agree with your comments about the CVO, believe it or not, I actually like the color of the 20 CVO, but it still needs something more to differentiate it. If it were $35k, I honestly might give it a thought, I just don’t see $10k plus over the Special. I don’t plan to buy another bike anytime soon, so I’m not going to complain right now.

The reaction to the primary color is purely subjective - some like, some don't. But the point I was really trying to make (which you got) was that sticking "CVO" on the bottom of the bags doesn't qualify as anything too special as a paint job. Heck, they used to do marbleized effects, lots of graphics, pearls, etc. If they're going to continue to ask around $40k for a CVO Road glide, then they need to limit production to 1,000 units per year, and make them much more "special" than this latest example. And then be prepared to slap the wrists of any dealers who try to sell for more than MSRP.
