Hey guys I have an 18 CVO Road Glide and want to purchase the airhawk r model. They only have 2 sizes small and large. Does anyone know which one for my bike? I was going to do a gel insert but that does not seem to help from what I have read. Thanks

I have the large..primarily for my wife, but Ive used it on longer rides or when its super hot out...used it on a 15" and a 17" mustang solo with no problems..just dont fill it with much air...follow instructions...good luck!!

I got the small for my 2018 CVO, it measures 11" X 11" which is the exact seat dimension. It hasn't arrived yet so I can't comment on fitment yet

Disappointed ??
Yesterday I purchased an AirHawk R in large for my 13 RGU. Today I went on a 200 mile trip through the Smoky Mountains via the Dragons Tail. I can normally ride about 300 miles or 4-5 hours before my butt and tailbone start hurting on my stock seat. Today I barely made it an hour before everything started aching. I’ve watched several videos and followed the instructions from AirHawk and I couldn’t seem to get it right. Twice I had to stop to add air to the bladder due to me letting out too much. By the time I got home (4.5 hrs later) my butt, tailbone, lower back and my shoulders were aching. Has anyone else ever experience this? Tomorrow I’m riding about 400 miles to Nashville and back home and I’m going to try the seat pad again. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to make the ride more comfortable?

When I used mine I just rode my regular seat without the air hawk for the morning - then used the air hawk for the afternoon. Sometimes swap with and without at fill ups. Not much air & worked great for me. Played w the air to get a sweet spot.

Wife uses the Air Hawk and swears by it.
I have an Air Rider that I used.
It is a gel pad + memory foam unit that I picked up at a local parts shop that has them made by its parent company.
They are also available at White Lightning Harley here in Chattanooga.

That was my experience too. On my 3000 mile trip last year, I was a bit under impressed, it did help though. I would start by over filling it a bit at gas stations, then every 30-45 min, or when I couldn't take it any longer, I would reach down and let a little air out. By the next gas stop I would be down to no air. Air up again, rinse and repeat. In all fairness, I was trying to use it as a crutch on a low profile seat.

I've found with mine that very little air is better. The suggestion by @RonC26 is the way I've used mine. End of the day it wasn't the cure all I'd hoped for. Sent the seat to Mean City Cycles to be reworked, don't have enough miles in one day (yet) to say it's the fix all. The short ride though seems more comfortable.

I used a Airhawk and it was ok but it was hard to adjust without stopping and either letting air in or out. When my hip was really bothering me I broke down and got a HD air seat pad and you can let air in or out while riding, the HD air pad has a pump squeeze bulb and a air valve that allows you to adjust the seat while riding. I prefer the HD air seat over the Airhawk hands down. JMO

just got back from a 400 mile round trip with a tallboy seat.
rode with the airhawk for about 100 miles and took it off because my shoulder started aching.
same with my 17" solo seat.

ride around town (about 60 miles) with the airhawk on the stock seat and it works great.
without the airhawk my shoulders ache.

it depends on the seat you're using and how you are positioned on the bike.
if you only have the stock seat, it would be cheaper than a new seat.

it does keep things in the nether regions a little cooler and you don't stick to the seat if you wear shorts.

JMO but wearing shorts when riding any motorcycle isn't very smart. Just imagine what your legs would look like when or if you ever go down on the bike. The skin would be torn off your legs and asphalt and gravel would be embedded in your legs for a lifetime. But it's your ride so you decide.

Reading this got me thinking - just went out to check. To set my record straight, mine isn’t an airhawk but is the HD Road Zeppelin. Another post here jogged my memory. But prior to this I even used bubble wrap and a $20 camping inflatable cushion. : )

7 or so years ago I slipped and busted my tail bone on a rain soaked wooden ramp. Felt it for at least two years and couldn’t ride 50 miles without feeling like the fall happened yesterday. Bought an Airhawk and was amazed at the relief. At the time they made two flavors, one more durable and expensive than the other. Rubber and neoprene I think. Bought the neoprene and just leave it on the bike full time. Not that sexy but my ass doesn’t care. Everyone’s natural tendency I think, is to overinflate it. It doesn’t take much air at all. I probably inflate mine only 10-15%. I’ve been through a couple of covers but still have the same pad. Sun gets to the cover eventually and my only complaint with the unit is that the attachment points and straps aren’t substantial enough. Have to be careful to not to tear them. My wife sewed some fabric loops on the 4 corners of the cover and I use parachute cord for the straps.
