I read in another thread that when installing after market turn signals theres a way to make the turn signals just turns, and not running lights. My stock front and back turn signals are on all the time as running lights. Since I have smoked lenses, I dont like the way it looks. How do I make them just turn signals?

also where are you guys getting red bulbs at?

In the front, you can just eliminate the keyed hot leg of the plug......unplug the connector inside the fairing use a test light to see what is turn/run/ground, then unplug the running light feed from the signal side of the connection (with it still plugged in on the "fairing side" it will be isolated and fine being terminated) then reassemble :) as for the bulbs, they can be had in just about any color you want at most any auto parts store, or online if your not in a rush

Ok. I checked my local advance auto today, no red bulbs, I'll look elsewhere. What about the rear?

I understand you wanting to make the bike look the way you like BUT the main question is WHY would you do this besides the cool effect? When riding a motorcycle the more visable you are the less likely it is you will get hit by a car.

I'm going to be adding more lights as running/turn lights. So I just want my stock ones to be on as turns, not running lights.

I had a softail that would burn out one of the running lights all the time so, I saved one of the bulbs and when it blew another I just put the pair back in and only the signals worked since it is a 2 filament bulb. Never had any problems.

maybe not the best way to do it but it works,

Not a shabby Idea. To me this would be better then figuring out which wire is the constant and cutting it.

There is only 3 wires on the front turn/running lights, you will need to get a 12v tester and go to the molex connector that is at the end of the lights then just find out which wire is running lights and which is turn signals then on the turn signal wires coming out of the light housing you can de-pin the correct wire from the molex plug. Make sure you de-pin the wire from the light housing because if you de-pin the wire from the feed harness you will have a hot wire floating around de-pinning from the light housing the removed wire will not be hot and there is no chance of the wire shorting out. You should still tape the end of the wire and instructions on how to de-pin the molex connectors are in the HD service manual in my 08 manual it is in section A.2

I'm almost positive your rear signals on an "08" model should not work as run (tail) lights. I would look under the seat (usually near the bracket just behind battery) for a add on controller in line to the rear fender wiring harness. If found, simply remove it and plug the harness back together. That should make the rear lights signal only again.
