MCC mods to the stock RGC seat???

In my continuing quest for a new lower and still comfortable seat I am now considering an Mean City Cycles mod. Just got off the phone with them and unfortunately they can't do what I would need done to my stock Ultra seat. So plan "B" was possibly picking up and modding a stock RG Custom or Street Glide seat. The new lower version.

Has anyone had comfort mods done to the rider and passenger area of one of these seats??? What they suggested to me is widening the passenger area, raising the back so it doesn't slope and adding memory foam. To the rider area memory foam or double memory foam and possibly lowering an inch and narrowing it a little.

Just wondering if it would be worthwhile doing these mods to the stock RGC seat. Anyone have something similar to the above done???

I have to be truthful. I had some mods done by MCC and the goal was to make my wife happy. Widened with memory foam and heat. No good for the wife. She doesn't notice any difference. If I could start over I would buy something else and not spend the money on the mods.

No offense to our forum sponsor. Just being honest about my experience and the wife's happiness.

Good luck,

Phil

don't you have to put a good amount of miles on the seat to break it in to really tell if it worked?

Sent from my SCH-I535

Usually 800-1000 mile break in period for our modifications.

Here is a Stock Street Glide/Road Glide Custom seat next to a Wide Single Passenger modified seat. The stock seat is 8"s wide at the widest point in the front and 5 1/2"s wide at the widest point in the back and these measurements were taken of the actual sitting area of the seat not the bottom, the seat goes from wide on the bottom to narrow at the top and the stock seat is crowned, meaning the center of the sitting area is higher than the sides which will create a pressure point in the center of the seat. The widened seat is 10 1/4"s wides at the front and 8"s at the back. Also the foam in the passenger section has been dished out and is not crowned. You can't see that in the pictures but you can definitely see the seat is not crowned like it was stock.

Changing the angle of the passenger section is done by lowering the front of the sitting area and raising the back. We cannot get all the slope out but you don't want all the slope out or the passenger will slide forward under moderate to heavy breaking.

my

I put a 2010 SESG seat on my RGC. Wife hated it, Had MCC widen it an inch, and put in the memory foam. BIG difference. We did a one day, 700 mile trip from Boston, MA to Parkersburg, WV without a problem.

While you're at it, might as well do the driver as well. My seat is very low profile, and very comfortable.

I'm gonna speak up for MCC and Allen here,...
I bought a 'Ironing Board' Very Xpensive Seat, that Harley-Davidson sells from Evilbay.
Its called a 'Sidekick'.
Stock!,...the seat aint worth a 200 mile ride. You'll be off ur bike @ 100 miles and feel like ur 50 years old! (Well,...I am But!?)
I sent the Seat to Allen, spoke w/him personally.
He put , Memory Foam and a Gel-Pad in my part of the Seat.
W-O-A-H!!!!
I could tell a Hell of a Difference, Immediatly!!!!
I've put 10,000 miles on the seat since.
Its Freakn KILLER!!!!
Now this thing (seat) was a freakn IRONING BOARD b/4 he got it.
I've been riding for 38-39 years. Toured in 89 to the Rockys, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and back the Great State of Ohio.
MCC helped me!
He should be able to do the same for - Who-Ever!

I had mcc do a double decker mod on a RGC seat and it was a not worth it. I did have a conversation with Wooden Nickle a couple of days ago. He and I had our seats done at exactly the same time and he was not happy with his seat and just recently sent it back and apparently he was told that the seat was not done correctly and they have since had some personnel changes so I wonder if the same guy who botched his seat was the one who worked on my seat lol.

Allen told me if I sent my RGU seat (my cost) back to him he would personally fix it. I took several weeks to decide to do it and off it went. Allen got a hold of me immediately and described what had not been done correctly. All repairs and return shipping were on Allens dime. Right out of the box I could fell the difference. When I put it back on the bike I could really feel the support in the lower back and the firmness in the sitting area that should have been there in the first place. It also fit perfectly in next to the speaker pod's and I can once again use my larger Hawg Wired speakers that I installed using my own mod.

Once the weather in Montana where I live is conducive to riding I can give a better report on the seat. At this time I'm very hopefull.

I just got my seat done by MCC and had the comfort mod and lowered.
I haven't gotten a chance to test mine out until I go to Daytona bike week.
I am hoping I am not disappointed, but I think if I was disappointed I really feel MCC would make it right.

When I talked to them on the phone I felt they did address all my concerns and were very helpful.
Those of you that are not happy with your seat that has been modified by them have you contacted them?

They can't help if you don't reach out to them.
Just my $.02

I had the memory foam mod to the driver's section of my RGC seat. Lowered 1 inch, narrowed at the leg drop and moved back slightly. So far, so good. MCC is really easy to work with and will make you happy!

I rode a Corbin for 11 years on my RK. This has the same feel as the much more expensive seat and I can spend the extra $$$ on goodies likes cams, pipes, etc.....

Speaking from experience, Allen of MCC is a stand-up guy. Just look at all the replies he has made to this thread. My seat was done in his shop and it did not work for me. Long story short, Allen took it back and did a re-mod for me. I can see the physical differences already. Although I have not ridden on it yet, I am confident that he would tweak it for me if I had any more issues. I don't envy Allen, as he is making modifications on seats for posteriors and body types that he has not seen or measured. However, goes out of his way to provide a good product. I would and will use him again in the future. Just my 2 cents.
