We are planning on doing this 24-25 August (This coming weekend). Probably roll mid-morning. Can and will firm up details to include en-route linkup location(s) and time(s) if anyone is still interested / available. We will be over-nighting it at some local hotel. Tentative route will take us through (GA): Pine Mountain & LaGrange; (AL): Roanoke, Wedowee, Anniston, Gadsden, Cullman, Muscle Shoals & Tuscumbia. Oh, this is based on whether my tire gets in as scheduled and I get it mounted (shouldn't be an issue). I'll be rolling on the Dark Side for this trip!

Been there a couple times and planning to go at the end of the month , 8/24, with our HOG chapter. Its great and definitely worth the trip. As someone said, you park up top (large lot, not paved) and a truck drives you down (think hayride) Or you can walk, its not that bad.

If you stay overnight, they have old silos converted to rooms!

GA SHARKS CIRCLE UP!!! ;) :D

I wanna go!!! Gotta work on the bike some, but I'll try to make it!

If I can free up this week end I will join you guys.

OK, I just made a reservation for Saturday night at the new Microtel in Tuscumbia:

1852 Hwy 72 East
Tuscumbia , AL 35674 US
Phone: 1-256-248-0055
Fax: 1-256-248-0024

Looks to be nice for an economy hotel and has some very good reviews (aka clean). Fed Gov and AAA rate is $69.92 including tax. I will put out a route and linkup times/locations within the next day or two once folks firm up whether or not they'll be able to make it.

Jesse & Darrell, I'm thinking we could meet either in Wedowee (1030-ish CST) or further up in Anniston (1130-ish CST) as those would probably be decent options where our paths intersect if y'all are able to make it.

Figuring in time for lunch, etc. we'll check in sometime after 3 PM (hotel is enroute to our destination) and then head over to the Rattlesnake Saloon which is about 25 minutes away. Their hours Saturday are 1100 AM -1000 PM but don't serve beer until 5 PM...

Anyone who wants to go, let me know and we can figure out link up plans.

Doesn't look like I will be able to make this, a herniated disc in my back is making life very difficult at the moment. I haven't even cleaned my bike from SWlll...........

Sorry to hear about your back issue Mike, I know what you mean though - I've got 3 of em in mine from an old jump injury & when it flares up, well I can't imagine a more debilitating agony, maybe kidney stones but never had em so can't speak to that. Hope you feel better soon my friend.

Man this sounds like fun and love runnin' with the Georgia crew, but workin' Saturday morning and you guys will be at the saloon before I get home :( Maybe next time.

Same here! I'm looking forward to it man. Not sure what the ride back will look like, but if we happen to come back through Anniston after 12pm CST, there is a great restaurant just north of town. Top O' The River! If you've never been, it's some good stuff!

I can't make it either. Life stuff getting in the way and I'm in the same boat as Mike....I haven't even cleaned mine yet either! And I got some funky issues going on with my horn that I need to get figured out....yeah, I know...."My Horn!!!???" Seems it's shorting to ground somewhere and I and many folks at SharkWeek couldn't seem to find it....including Mike!
So, before I go too much farther, I gotta get it and the engine temp sensor issue fixed....
But let's plan another one in a couple weeks or so...Any suggestions?

Sorry y'all can't make it Darrell, but if you change your mind...

...Jesse, all sounds good man - should be no problem grabbing vittles after 12 CST in Anniston Sunday & maybe catch the rally too! Keep me posted on the J-Ville trip as well!

Jesse (and anyone else wanting to do this), how about we meet at the Racetrac (1203 S Quintard Ave, Oxford, AL) which I believe is co-located with Shoney's (I-20 exit 185 I think) at 1130 CST. It looks to be the 1st gas station on the right once you exit I-20 west bound. We can grab lunch there in Anniston if you like after we link up.

My plan is to leave my house at 1000 EST Saturday and it's a bit over 2 hours to Anniston / Oxford for me so 1130 CST (1230 EST) gives plenty of fudge factor time.

What say you?
