I ride a Harley cause it stirs my soul.

I grew up in the sixties and seventies in southern MD. We had bike gangs, but what I remember was my cousins and my mother's best friend. They all had Harleys. My Moms friend let me ride his bike, an old DC police glide, but I was on top of the world when I putted around on that bike.

Got older and into cars and girls. Became a LEO and the agency I worked for did not like bikers. Was single and had the $$$ but I didn't want to bring the admin down on me so I put the dream away again. Then one day sitting on my couch, my then GF, now wife and I saw a very rare at the time HD commercial. I made a comment about how I wanted a bike, a Harley. Her eyes lit up, she smiled and out the door we went. After some serious looking and talking to a lot of very helpful people I bought a 1974 Shovelhead FX with the reverse shifting tranny.

Seven bike later I have never owned anything but HD Rode my brothers VMAX once. Three miles later it was back in the garage :(
I cant see me owning anything other than a HD:cool:

I ride a roadie because it's the bike that fits my lifestyle the best. I tested a few different harley models before I settled on the RG. had an '88 fxrp before this. Although I loved it, wasn't as comfy or reliable as the RG.
Growing up summers in Laconia, I got in more than a few altercations with Jacyls that thought if you didn't ride a harley, you were a piece of sh!t. I had a Yamaha 93 fz600 & and then a neat sport cruiser, a 96 Kawa zl 600. I loved that bike, and it fostered my love for riding. I still have it and will be giving it to a guy that works for me. But I took a lot of crap for riding them from the so called 'real bikers' out there. This turned me off completely, and I almost didn't want to get a Harley because of it. Then I realized that there are assho&es everywhere, and I'm not going to let anyone dictate what I ride. I talked to a shop owner and asked what bike he would want to ride across the country and he said an 88 or 89 fxr. (I guess he never rode a RG!) So I hunted for one and bought my first harley. I always go out of my way to talk to all bikers I come across, regardless of their machine of choice.

I ride a Harley because it's the brand I choose, and I try to buy American made...also because in my MC we only ride American made. I do plan on buying a spare bike, but I think it will be a Indian Touring model.

I've had all the Jap bike plus two europeans. Got my first Harley after my Dad died and left me enough money for a deposit in his will.

Got off the plane when I got home and went straight to the HD dealership in Perth and put the money as a deposit on my Heritage. Although I like other bike (Indian etc.) I think HD have far more pizza and I just like the most.:)

Got the 09 CVO in 2012 and it's the best bike I've ridden for comfort over long distances. Took me 3 years to find on the internet but worth the effort; my gain the other guys loss (he bought a Victory:eek:).

Classic looks and nothing else sounds as good when you crack the throttle!

I have owned different brands.... the biggest allure for me was they have soul.

First Harley I rode was a fat boy that I rented in Arizonia. I felt I could ride forever on that bike. I did almost 1000 miles in a day.(the look on the guys face when I returned it with all those miles was PRICELESS!!:D) after that ride I always wanted one. I just had to wait to be able to afford one.

I ride a Harley Davidson, because.......................................................

-They're American
-Chicks dig 'em
-They are Comfortable
-They fit my 250lb./6'3" Build
-Craftsmanship compared to others is Superior (look @ other brands Fuel tanks)
-They are Stout
-Dependable
-The history of the company and their motorcycles
-The thing will always run if you have Air, Spark, Fuel, and Timing correct.
-Any motorcycle that can still go 80-100mph for an hour while pissing motor oil out of the rockerboxes is a good motorcycle. (This actually happened to me)

-THEY HAVE CHARACTER AND SOUL!

That is why I ride a Harley Davidson. (Any Model):D

Didn't read this whole post working 7 -12's for a month at least .I ride a Harley because somewhere in my past I grew out giving a shit what any one thought what was fastest and just wanted something that wasn't the latest greatest fastest whatever . I wanted something I could work on my self ride long distances take a relaxing ride and turn the damn cell phone off and get away . Found it.

Started riding at 8 years old, Kawasaki dirt bike. Followed by a bigger Yammie. Dad always found us kids some good used bikes to learn on. 3 wheelers and snowmobiles. Those were the days. After high school I had a Honda street bike. Then I took some years off, coinciding with getting a wife and 2 kids. I bought an old Yamaha street bike off a guy for 200 bucks and kicked around on it for about a month and the old feelings came back. I passed the old Yamaha on to another guy and bought a new Yamaha bike to pass the time until I could get my Road Glide. I knew that I would have a Road Glide someday, and when that time came, I walked into the dealer picked out my color, did some haggling, and wrote them the check. I never even test road one. I knew that one was it, and within 1 mile on the road, I knew the long wait was worth it......

The status symbol, comfort, bragging rights, customization factors, to keep the tradition alive well past 100 years so the generation behind me knows what it feels like to say they own and ride a Historic American Motorcycle Co. that's lasted thru time. I don't wear much HD branded clothes, I'm a believer that money should be put into the bike, not your wardrobe, and lets face it I've met many men with a sportster and 5 grand in harley gear and wonder why they only talk about dreaming of owning something bigger lol. :D I own my bike for me, it's my dream, my vision of what I want to own. I've had many other brands in the past, but I LOVE my Harleys!

Bought my first Harley, an 04 V rod, not because it was a Harley, but because it was a V rod. She just spoke to me. 45,000 miles later, she still whispers in my ear "Spank Me!" I've ridden her to KC, Outer Banks, and just last year, New England. Had a blast riding around New England and wasn't really uncomfortable, but could have been more so. Decided to look for a touring bike. I try to buy American whenever possible, looked at The Vision and the Road Glide. I like fixed fairings so those were really the only 2 choices. Simply can't live with the back end of the Vic, so the Road glide it was. Picked up a 2013 RG in Midnight Pearl to park alongside the V rod and just waiting for the salt to wash away so I can ride.

My dad got me into motorcycles and he told me to get my MC license when I got my drivers license then he gave me his 73 CB 350.

He never had a Harley but he said if he was to get a big road bike, that it would be a Harley. That stuck with me, even though at the time Harleys were getting a bad rap. (AMF)

Through the yrs of various makes and types of bikes I was in a position to buy one back in the day when they were hard to find a used one and a new one had a 2 yr waiting list. I finally came across one and let my Dad know it was happening. He was excited about that, sadly he died the next day and never got to see that happen for me. I still have my 1st Harley and would have a hard time parting with it.
