J&S Jacks - Disappointed

Well back in early September I took what seemed to be the consensus on the best jack outside of a table, and I purchased the J&S bundle. I called before purchasing it because the website said it was a 4-6 week turnaround and the guy that I talked to confirmed that they were looking at about six weeks. Here we are 12 weeks later (and I’m aware that their website now says 8-12 weeks) and there is still no jack in my garage. Worse yet is that I’ve left several messages and emailed a few times with no response. I understand that everyone is struggling with labor and supply chain issues, but communication here would make a world of difference. I’m not writing this for sympathy, just so that anyone looking for a jack for Christmas understands what they are getting into with this specific company.

Happy Holidays All!

You stole my thread title!

Sorry you're having issues.

I received my Jack kit. It was delivered after 14 weeks.
But it works great. So much stronger than the HF Jack it’s replacing.
And as far as email or messaging, call them on the phone. I emailed with no response. But got great response on the phone.

When the Road Glide is up on the J&S stand, it is very steady. I can shake it and pull on the bike to move it.
When it was on the Harbor Freight stand, and I had to move the bike, it required me to handle the stand. If I tried to use the bike, I would have pushed the bike off.
That is a stronger frame, in my opinion.

i had a hf jack too, back in 2012 or so. when my bike was lifted, i made sure that i had straps holding it on the jack, and i was still anxious about the amount of 'wobble' that it had. i replaced it with a j&s that i picked up from a harley dealer in milwaukee and have had 0 regrets since. i gave away the hf jack.

I've posted before on this. I've had my JS jack since 06 on my Dyna, then my 17 streetglide and now my 20 RGL. Love this jack, but their customer service is absolute crap. My bottle jack started leaking a few years ago, and I reached out to them, phone, email, you name it to see if they sold a direct replacement, could not get anyone to get back with me. I finally bought one at an auto parts store, had to redrill the pad it sat on to make it work, but my jack continues to work like a champ. Like I said, jack is quality, I've sat on the bike up in the air to gauge highway peg placement, changed all 3 oils with the pan on it many times, etc, love the jack, but once you buy it, and it's in your garage, forget about getting anything from them, they absolutely suck for customer service. I think they are a very small family operated company, but for the life of me can't understand why they don't have a front desk girl working the phones or something.

Went through similar when I bought a J&S, pre-covid, think I ordered in March that year. They had a 10% off promo going on. No backorders or reason why it would take more than 2 months but the non communication on their behalf drove me to the brink of cancelling. When I finally got thru I asked to & they were willing to oblige. She let me know they were a small family business & they were trying hard to keep up. Glad I didn't cancel - lives up to the hype. I bought from them again, got the adapter plate to lift my wife's Spyder.
The bottle started leaking a few months ago - marking its spot ;) Need to get a hold off them for a fix - maybe after holidays - or after supply chain - maybe there's a kit for that.
I recommend the oil pan adapter too. Fits right on the jack & diverts everything into a lo profile catch can.

where's it leaking? mine was leaking so i decided to just replace it. i found a bottle jack, but it turned out to be just a smidge too tall and wouldn't let the frame rails lower all the way. went to harbor freight and bought an o ring kit and disassembled the plunger and replaced that o ring which ended up curing my leaks and gave me full lift back. all for less than $10

It is a shame. Great jack. Had mine since 2007. I actually stopped at the business in Wrightstown, WI (near Green Bay) to pick it up. It was basically a nice building behind a house in a residential area. Great people. Seems they have outgrown their ability to respond to customer and have relocated to another (larger?) facility in another town nearby. I have had one bottle jack replaced early on when they still communicated with the customer. When the second one started leaking, I could get no one to answer phone, return emails, etc. I ended up taking the bottle jack off and taking it to a local hydraulic repair shop in area. For $20, I was back in business. This way, I did not have to fuss with drilling mounting holes in the bottom of the bottle jack. I suspect it is lack of personnel and as long as you can keep selling more than you can make, you don't have to correct the customer service issue. Like Tesla.
